I don't know if Cup is here, but in the latest video where Cup says in the translation notes that he doesn't know what かみコウリン (kami kourin) means, Kourin is a nickname Marisa uses for Rinnosuke. I dunno what かみ is supposed to mean though.

I was aware of that, but still have no idea how to translate it. It could be couple of things (kanji would really help here), but it's obviously making a very specific reference that I don't recognize so none of them would be an accurate translation. But yes, whatever she's talking about, it probably has something to do with Rinnosuke or his shop.

AND the permission of the copyright holder of the recording, which is where the WMG debacle from (one year? more?) ago came from. You'd also want some sort of letter/contract explicitly giving you permission so you can defend yourself if anyone does try to sue you anyway.

Actually, raocow's very voice has been copyrighted by his own vocal cords. Unfortunately, he needs his voice to ask them for permission to use his voice (because it's too dark to read a written request inside of the human throat), so he can't ask for permission without first asking for permission, in order to do which he'd first have to ask for permission, and so on and so forth. Quite a pickle.

I wonder why. I mean, there are far less people watching the older videos anyway then the newer ones, so there's first of all less guys to be bothered by them; and secondly, if you're so into watching raocow that you feel the need to archive-binge (either your first time or every once in a while even), then a little ad popping up surely won't matter in the slightest.

It also, for the reasons of there being far less people, wouldn't matter much for the money you might get from them; I just don't see the point, personally, of eschewing ads.

I can understand Machinima trying to be proactive in keeping their partners "safe".

What I can't understand is the completely random selection process when it comes to which videos get made private and which ones don't.
