I never noticed it, but the bosses disappear extremely abruptly in this game. It just goes to the orb nearly instantly.

Those candles that had you so curious in the middle of that "duck-walk through the ceiling spikes" corridor actually had a safe spot in the middle where there were no spikes, so you could've hit them. Not that I figure they'd have been anything *important*... just pointing out that it wasn't quite as pointlessly dangerous as you seemed to think.

All I know is that there was a piece of small meat in the right candle in the spiky section where you have to duck. No clue what's in the left one.

While this level leaves little to talk about other than that it does in fact look pretty cool, and I think it probably could have given you a little more trouble if you were being only a little more careless, I do have an unrelated fun fact for you.

"Ae" from Latin (like at the end of a first declension plural) is properly pronounced in English like "ea" when long (think "each," "tease," and so on) and "e" when short. ("bet," "beg," and so on) "Oe" from Latin is the same deal, but technically it's "ee," not "ea." Probably about three people still say them differently, all from the Isles. The "a" and "o" are rarely written (at least on this side of the pond) nowadays except in first declension plurals and some scientific stuff, so people typically use spelling pronunciation instead.

I think this being one of raocow's first big grind heavy time investment games explains a lot about his general playstyle. I am much less careful and slow than him because I grew up on Yoshi's Island, where if you screw up a bit, whatever, just flutter! Also there's a bunch of "just ruuuun" levels and Yoshi do be speedy

man yoshi's island is so good i need to replay it. and also try to actually 100% the snes version, with the help of savestates to practice harder bits (gba version i'll do much later hhh)

enjoying the lp so far. i forgot how beautiful the graphics are, despite them being very muddy and brown. i also agree with the blood censorship actually improving the dungeon stage, but i feel like im less aggro abt disliking censorship than raocow outside of like pussyfoot shit like censoring religion and blood and whatnot.

i'd have a discussion with raocow abt how much censorship is too much censorship, since i feel like he'd approach it in good faith as an artist while still providing decent counters, but i don't know if i'd be smart enough to make cohesive arguments beyond like "i feel like putting edea as a 15yo in the jp bravo bikini in bravely default would have been too much lol".

Rondo of Blood has my favorite rendition of Bloody Tears, but since I've only beaten the PSP remake of it and not the original, I guess we'll have to go for the next best thing. That's this one.

Yeah no, SC4 Bloody Tears has extremely powerful energy. Terrific use of the SNES' sample based audio chip.

The fact raocow got this alongside Tonkin House's Ys III port for Christmas makes for a very funny contrast since SNES Ys III's samples are very mediocre and muddy, even if we disregard that it's not FM synth like the PC versions or MegaDrive, nor it being Redbook Audio glam rock with the occasional PSG like the TGCD. Total disservice to a great soundtrack, sadly, and I'm trying to acknowledge it on its own terms, though there are some songs that aren't too bad on it.

I do recommend og Rondo if you figure out how to get a Turbografx emulator working (RetroArch may be good for setting up Mednafen for casual users?), fantastic game. Phenomenal gameplay and the graphics are just lovely, it's very hard to believe that the Turbografx is just an 8bit machine with a 16bit graphics chip, like holy shit. Other Super CD-ROM² games like Seiya Monogatari and the Gulliver Boy adaptation (Japanese only RPGs, both also on the Saturn, funnily enough) also have graphics on par with the Mega CD, it's impressive.

Don't confuse Hudson's Gulliver Boy on TGCD/Saturn with Bandai's Gulliver Boy action RPG on the SNES, they're different games. SNES is also translated and apparently a fun, short ride.

Play the Rondo Remake on PSP and unlock the OG Rondo in it, but also unlock SotN, 100% that first and then play OG Rondo, that's how champions do it. Also make this your next LP, raocow

I had just as much trouble with that damn tower too - Simon just never seems to want to get on the damn stairs. Castlevania and evil stairs, name a more iconic duo.

Also didn't help that I first played through this game on Wii VC, so I was using a Gamecube controller...

nah, i went at it with a shiny mawile named filia medici because it pisses off pedos that you can't look at her butt in-game anymore filia is cute and mawile is cute and futakuchi-onna are pretty rad (i have never played skullgirls)

My strategy on Slogra was basically to run as far away as I could after hitting him. He locks on to the spot where you are at the time of the hit and drops down there, so maximizing the distance between those spots seemed like the best bet to me. It's also important to move as soon as you can so that you can use the time while he's heading up to get further away.
