So, a couple things to note:

First, after today, I'll be out of the country for a couple weeks on vacation (Ireland and UK if you need to ask). Updates will be even more sporadic than before. Apologies in advance.

Secondly, to answer raocow's question from the Dr. Ion video: Four Devas is a common translation for 四天王, or Shi Tenno, which is what they're called in the Japanese version. It translates literally to the Four Heavenly Kings, who are the four Buddhist deities that represent the cardinal directions of the world. The significance of the term in Japanese and other East Asian cultures is such that it's often used in East Asian media as a shorthand for any group of four people (or entities) who are elites in whatever it is they do. The equivalent in English (and other language) media is Big Three or Big Four. (In Quebec, you also had the Three Wise Men.) Tomato wrote about it five years ago in the context of Japanese video games.

(For what it's worth, the term used to describe beings like the Four Heavenly Kings in Sanskrit/Pali is deva, so the translation makes sense.)

I mean...it's kind of repeat of what happened earlier in the playthrough: Your main moveset is starting to get weak, and you have to just upgrade it with the times.

That said, since I saw that you're deliberately avoiding it, a mention on that HEAD SLICER technique: This had a unique reverse localization situation. If you use that Roulette Wheel tech on an enemy in the North American version, and it kills the enemy, the enemy will get a (bloodless) decapitation. However, the Japanese version censored this, possibly because it was considered too violent.

Conversely, though, there is a Roulette Wheel technique that doesn't make the NA version: DEAD PAN. A zero-orb technique, it isn't an attack. Instead, a washtub drops on Gene's head, causing him to stumble but granting him temporary invincibility. It was dropped because, along with being mostly useless, it's based on some part of Japanese humor that doesn't translate to Western audiences all that well.

So, as I finally caught up while taking a train down to England (next to some kid who is the 10-year-old version of a middle-aged dad...had to put on a mask because he kept fucking coughing everywhere, the slob), something important to note: There is a way to drop your level to 1 if you really need to do it.

Roulette move *GROVEL* will drop your difficulty level to 1, no matter what level you're currently on. However, it costs 1 coin. So only use it if you're absolutely frustrated. (And in case you're wondering what it does: You just grovel in a traditional Japanese way or something, and your enemies tell you you're not Alexander)

At this point in the game, though, you're going to have a lot of trouble keeping it down. The enemies are harder and add to your difficulty meter much more quickly than earlier in the game.
