&: WAAAAAAAH!
it's so funny how wario is both the start and end of this game. you start this game with a set of microgames where their only real consistent detail is "wario is in these, and it's mostly sound bomber", now you end it with "wario is in these, and it's the ones the developers couldn't put elsewhere", as well as a few microgames that are wario-ized versions of other ones! it's like the devs saw the problem of "is wario best at the start or end of this game?" and said "fuck it, both!". it's a very punk way to develop by tossing out conventions like that to bring in something new/unexpected, which like, is a design ethos that they kept around since the start of wario land and have yet to drop.

and speaking of: ending the entire game with basically a full on MINIgame instead of a microgame as the final boss microgame is SO fucking funny. this entire time microgame has been the insistent terminology for warioware's gameplay, a nickname they've used for the entire series and other games that have used the warioware formula from other developers... and then they just try to stretch the definition of "micro" to its (excessively il)logical extreme. we think it stops being a microgame at this length... but then we're of the opinion that that's exactly why this microgame is so funny, and such a fun conclusion. in wario trying to develop the hardest microgame, he just develops like. A normal minigame. which is SUCH a funny implication.

also, debut of the wario bike! we forgot this was the start of that thing. and also, a rare acknowledgement of wario and the usual lack of Consequences of his actions. they only do that one like... we think 3 times across the series? this being one of them. though also the implication that wario doesn't actually like his friends all that much gradually gets dropped as time goes on, so that one feels very strange to see with a whole franchise's worth of retrospect and wario making new friends and keeping up with old friends for good measure.

&: Me now!
&: At the very start, I mentioned Sound Bomber. Let's cycle back to that one! It's, totally a thematics thing; we start with it, we end with it, right? And not because I wanted to wait for spoilers! Ahem. Anyways, when we said this game was just. Sound Bomber Again, we weren't joking. In fact, you've secretly been playing all 8 of the microgames in Sound Bomber this whole time, because all 8 of them got recycled and re-themed in this game! To summarize:
  • ROULETTE, a game about stopping a spinning wheel on a specific section, became Wario Whirled in the Introduction stage.
  • JUMP, a game about jumping over a moving vehicle, became Crazy Cars from the Introduction stage.
  • SHOOT, a game about taking out moving targets that shift back and forth with a rocket, became Repellion from the Introduction stage.
  • BASEBALL, a game about hitting a ball with a bat, became Batter Up, from Jimmy T's stage. This one's our personal favorite--the aesthetics of that Microgame are lifted almost entirely from BASEBALL! One of the few direct Sound Bomber references in this game.
  • MAZE is pretty much the odd one out as the only one to have no 1:1 gameplay analogue, but its general concept of "Navigate a maze and got re-used for Maze Daze in Orbulon's stage.
  • BLOCK, a microgame about slotting a falling object into a goal, became Diamond Dig in the Introduction Stage.
  • FLIES, which is a reference to Gnat Attack, became... Well, Mario Paint: Fly Swatter, from 9-Volt's stage.
  • RACE's gameplay ended up being so nice, they used it twice! It became Hectic Highway in the Introduction Stage, and Racing 112 in 9-Volt's stage.
&: So, if anyone ever asks for a Sound Bomber LP... Well, you've technically already done it!

no wanting to kiss wario is actually impeccable, phenomenal, outstanding taste. way better than wanting to like; be stepped on by dimitrescu or bowsette as far as my opinions go. there's way better women out there

like ada if we're going by resi canon or vivian, bow, rosalina and daisy if mario

i make an exception for any bowsette that actually looks like a fucked up female bowser and isn't just some blonde anime bitch in a black dress, that there is how you know the designer has actual taste in 2d women

Nicely done beating that Wario stage, it's a tricky one!

I'd suggest at least one episode dedicated to looking at all the other stuff that got unlocked over the games course. Paper Airplane is a favorite of mine. :3

our stance is that doing the grid as its own LP feels. extremely excessive and too long. 24 episodes is literally tripling the video quantity, so like, don't do that so soon after finishing the main game!

however. we ARE interested in seeing this to its completion. this game is great fun and we think it's very enjoyable to watch raocow play it. so, we think it'd probably be better being one of those games like voxatron was/MMPU currently is, where you could chip away at the grid as a sort of pallet cleanser between larger LPs. possibly alternating between warioware and MMPU? we've seen that idea mentioned a few times and we think it could be great fun.

and, of course, we'll be keen to keep updating the thread if grid becomes a sorta stay on the channel like that, like a voxatron/MMPU dealio.

Here are my two cents: I don't want you to do an lp of finishing off the grid high scores because it will set the precedent for doing that for every Warioware, and I think that will eventually become a huge slog.

That said, if you MUST, if enough people say that it's a good idea, I'd prefer one of two things: You either treated like Megaman Powered Up in that you do as many videos as it takes to complete one character's grid, or you do it for the C side after CLDC finishes.

I think that going and doing the grids is not a great idea, so I say please don't. Though, if you really want to do this, you could alternate between MMPU and WarioWare grids like others have suggested.

I'm neutral on this, but if you want to do it, maybe doing 2-3 grid videos (grideos?) between projects wouldn't hurt.

Add me to the "between games" chorus - not very loud here, but I glanced at the video comments and there's a lot of people suggesting it there. I feel like doing it all at once, whether now or as its own LP, would get pretty draining at the end. But as a goofy little thing you do between other LPs, it could be a lot of fun. Sure, you'd probably have to derust a little each time, but I actually think that's a bit of a positive in the context of this game - stumbling around trying to figure out what to do is part of the fun, both on your side and on ours.

If it affects the decision at all, there is an unlock for clearing the whole grid. Twisted and Touched also have one, but not any of the other games. May be a good idea to 100% save to get that.

I just wanted to say that I enjoyed every single minute spent watching this LP, and I wouldn't mind seeing you do the grid as a single, cohesive LP (although not necessarily right now). But based on the YT comments and the messages above, this seems like an unpopular opinion. If you do end up playing these microgames in between LPs, I'd rather you handle it like some suggested, where you complete the entire grid for a character in 2-3 videos. I wouldn't want there to be single in-between videos where you only do a subset of a character's grid, because that's going to take forever.

Regarding the Fly Swatter minigame, it must've felt really uncomfortable to play that without a mouse. I don't think I've ever had one of those Bomb Flies explode on me in my life. They're so easy to hit because they always seem to gravitate towards you.

I've had a fun time watching this game. But almost a month extra of it? I worry it will start to overstay its welcome. My suggestion would be "as long as cow is still having fun", but that sort of thing doesn't really happen; either he sees it through or he doesn't. So... between series sounds like a good idea to me! That's been working out for Mega Man so far.

I like the idea o’ a grid episode appearing e’ery once in a while in the middle of other LPs @ random without any warning, pattern, rhyme, or reason, just like the Wario intro microgames in the nature games. ’Twould fit WarioWare perfectly.

raocow don't do the grid as an lp or as a whole series, that is a completely dumb idea and it's just detrimental to your health and the viewers' enjoyment as much as the idea of doing an all the non-sonics is. please just make it filler fodder like the mmpu user levels as everyone else says. im sorry for being so mean but No.

full disclosure: if we go for raocow-side Grid Intermissions (which seems to be the predominant opinion when the opinion isn't "no grid at all"), we intend to keep updating this thread's masterpost for that specific purpose, but like, in its own section on the main post. so if that's what happens we'd like to know just so we know how much our work'll be cut for us ;P
