That mansion wasn't really any more mad than the rest of the world Banjo and the crew live in.

the mansion itself had very little presence in the actual world so i'm chalking this one up to false advertising

the chapel had way more going on and was way bigger but even then most of the level is spent in hedge mazes
i've honestly never played a video game in my life

btw are we placing bets on whether or not the real-lifecore LP is gonna end in rusty bucket bay or no? like one of the three things i know about this game is how easy it is to die in that level in particular

edit: lol woops

It all depends on whether or not raocow loudly proclaims "I might legit die in this world" before entering it.

I assume the weird pausing when hitting certain switches is because the game is swapping between maps.

To which I wonder why they didn't just hide a duplicate of the relevant geometry out of bounds, instead.

Well that settles it, it's impossible to beat the game without using mumbo, barring glitches I'k nit aware of. I already had my doubts considering you need a certain amount of jiggies to beat the game, but you have to do it just to progress through the castle.

It's a technicality, but if you

use one of the illegal cheats that can provoke Gruntilda to erase your save game data if you use too many

you can skip it. Otherwise, yeah, this is a mandatory usage. Seeing how many comments said they got stuck on this part for ages makes me feel a little better about my childhood.

edit: nvm i'm definitely getting it confused with DK64 which he -did- do a vid on

Grunty calling Banjo a "geek" is actually potentially threatening to Kazooie: before the word acquired its contemporary definition, a geek was a circus performer who bit the heads off of chickens. However, our heroes are too cool to learn etymology, so the threat didn't work.

Not gonna lie, usually when I say I'm screaming at the screen during raocow videos I'm actually just sitting there being mildly annoyed, but for some reason, him trying to spell "red fethers" got me legit screaming. XD

Getting to see Hot Grunty did make up for it. :slow:

Shout-outs to the metal grate at the end of the water tunnel near the Rusty Bucket Bay puzzle,
and how many people never break it before they raise the water level, forever making it unbreakable.

It's technically one of the very few 'missables' in this game, and it's not even a collectible!
Uh...Do I just sign here? What do you mean it should be obvious? There are people in this world...well...a whole lot of people that can't follow basic instructions!

Hot take: “Rusty Bucket Bay” is the best level in the game. 1 thing Rare is great @ is making excellent hard levels that are just as famous as infamous ( DK64 is arguably the exception if we count infamously hard minigames ), which is always a great idea for making players less pissed @ you. Much like “Bramble Scramble”, this level’s aesthetics are so good — & original: I don’t see sunset harbor levels with oily water too oft… ’cept for “Oil Ocean Zone” from Sonic 2, now that I think ’bout it — & its layout is so interesting that I can’t hate it, e’en tho I once had the game freeze on me when I had 97 music notes ( on the N64 version ).

I personally like the last one more along with a few others we've already seen. That said, this one's definitely the hardest and the reason why I'm glad I played the Xbox 360 version over the original. That engine room is a death trap for a lot of players, and losing your notes every time you lose a life is just a big oof when that level's easily the one with the most instant kill potential.
