The Complete Ghost Trick LP Thread
Re: The Stricken Ghost Trick LP Thread
Alright raocow, I think we all want to see that poorly photoshopped Pizza Hut picture/poster/whatever now.
Girls are a hoax created by the Japanese anime industry to scam otaku out of their money.

The real reason people tell you not to go to art school is not that no one hires artists, but rather that you will be forever doomed to notice all the graphic design mistakes companies make by not hiring artists.
Re: The Stricken Ghost Trick LP Thread
Hmmm. Speculation ahead.
Given how close we presumably are to the end, I wanna keep it behind spoilers.

Re: The Stricken Ghost Trick LP Thread
The idea of ghosts imprinting the wrong body after waking up is another thing this game sets up so well. We assume Sissel is the man in red because that is who Sissel sees when he wakes up and whose form he takes, but then the first ghost we encounter after this is Lynne...who initially takes Cabanela's form until Sissel tells her that is wrong, immediately establishing that this can happen.

It was in that one moment that all speculation was annihilated. Grounder's presence in the game had been foreshadowed from the start. You can't possess things that are possessed. You also cannot possess biological objects. But this is not coincidence. Grounder was the bread all along.

Some speculation after I noticed something that real Sissel said.

If I was Detective Jowd I would simply drink up the entire ocean and walk back to shore.
Re: The Stricken Ghost Trick LP Thread
I wonder just how deep and far out at sea they're supposed to be here.
I haven't seen anything that indicates trying to swim up to the surface is completely unfeasible.

Lynne and Kamila being unable to swim was a point of urgency in the outrun-the-water puzzle.
This turned out to be spot on.Le Neveu de Rameau wrote: ↑2 years ago Most significantly, though, I think he was interested in displaying to them what a useful partner he would be in espionage and covert operations, so they'd offer him asylum and a job, providing some of the structure and meaning to his unlife that he feels was stolen from him ten years ago. Being an outlaw and non-person is presumably quite mentally exhausting, even if you're not at much risk of physical degradation.

Re: The Stricken Ghost Trick LP Thread
I'm so happy the game finally gave us the name "Yomiel", makes talking about the two separate characters easier. "Flesh-Sissel" is now just Yomeil, and I'm guessing protagonist-Sissel gets to keep the name Sissel. Even if he learns a different name that he had before death, might as well take a new name after completely losing your memory like this.
...I couldn't help but notice the glowing orange core on Yomeil's body. Are we about to go 10 years into the past?

Re: The Stricken Ghost Trick LP Thread
Knowledge from visual novels has taught me that despite sounding not that far down, swimming at depths of 100 feet without equipment is nearly impossible, let alone for an untrained diver. The water pressure adds up fast, and they are likely way below the depths they could exit the submarine safely.
Re: The Stricken Ghost Trick LP Thread
i'm really loving where the plot is going here
Re: The Stricken Ghost Trick LP Thread
So "Sissel" was just an alias, huh.
What's the plan here, call the guy in red by his real name, Yomiel, and continue to call the protagonist Sissel anyway? Feels odd doing that.

For some time during this series, I've been quite anxious each time the video cuts off, I'm like "no, no way, that can't be the Whole Episode" and just wishing I could fast forward myself to tomorrow.
Surely through the power of science and logic! In this game about ghosts time travelling and undoing deaths, and submarines that can de-compartmentalise, and weird advancements in technology that don't quite work for the time period, ultimately REASON will be our saviour!!
Re: The Stricken Ghost Trick LP Thread
To be fair, de-compartmentalizing a submarine doesn't seem that outlandish if you don't care about both compartments sinking.
Re: The Stricken Ghost Trick LP Thread
Yes, same here! Each time I'm anxious to see the next day's video to find where the plot goes, and raocow's reactions to it all~
So what you're saying is, Science is going to come down from his base, do silly logic stuff, and save the day!Surely through the power of science and logic! Re: The Complete Ghost Trick LP Thread
I love Sissel's true talksprite so much.
Re: The Stricken Ghost Trick LP Thread
I've already seen this game played twice before, but it has been extremely enjoyable to see someone experience this for the first time again. Ghost Trick is a really incredible game with one of the most engrossing stories I've ever seen. It's just such an immaculately crafted mystery that continuously outdoes itself right until the very end, and even on a rewatch I still found myself getting very excited to see it all play out. It's also a surprisingly emotional story - Sissel's line "Those ten years were very happy for me. But they weren't happy for the man. And there was nothing I could do for him" always makes me tear up. The game really makes you feel for Yomiel by the end.
Anyway, I would agree that other visual novels wouldn't really be a great fit for you. I mean, I love Ace Attorney, but those games are very long, and it's very possible to get lost in the investigation segments and not know where to go, which I think would be very frustrating in an LP format. Also, at least in the original trilogy, their plots don't get nearly as wild as Ghost Trick, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I do think it would be less immediately interesting for someone who doesn't care for visual novels at all. I think the reason why Ghost Trick clicked for you is because, aside from all of the incidental character chatter, it usually moves at a pretty brisk pace, with little in terms of filler, which is very different from the pacing of Ace Attorney. I just don't think it would work as well.
