I would be too, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be available to people who need it.

Re: ASMT 11th Anniversary LP - Hey There Guy
I mean you could come up with an infinite number of hypothetical conditions that would make ASMT less accessible to a person. The colorblind-friendly edition of ASMT doesn't exist for the same reason there isn't alternate versions for every other one of those scenarios.
If the issue ever came up it would take like 5 minutes to open up the rom in Lunar Magic, export the graphics, swap it back, and re-insert. No one's done that (as far as I know) because the situation has never come up

Re: ASMT 11th Anniversary LP - Hey There Guy
"We can't account for everything so it's pointless to try to account for anything" sure is a bizarre sentiment to use to respond to a question about potential accessibility improvement. o_O Particularly if it really would take just five minutes for someone to change the ROM and then X more minutes to upload it to SMWC or wherever it would go.

this is going to be one of those "accessibility benefits more than just this small subsection of people who need it" things - I have a hard time distinguishing between the red that means 2 and the somewhat darker red that means 1.

Honestly what Pokota said. I would have gone with dark gray (so the outlines still have an effect) in place of the crimson.

Crazy how the last level today uses "Theme from What the Hell" as its BGM.
Re: ASMT 11th Anniversary LP - Hey There Guy
wait there's actually a second red on those platforms? I thought the 2 and 1 were the same color, and I don't have any degree of colorblindness.

This level is such a perfect representation of the kind of nonsense that was all over the place in all these games back then. It's so good, so special
Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

Re: ASMT 11th Anniversary LP - Hey There Guy
Perhaps despite my better judgement I do genuinely really like An Echoing Call, mostly because I still find the message box gimmick in the first half hilarious. I won’t deny that the surprise ice block spawners are pretty dumb, though; I’m fairly certain I went over the level and added the indication amulets to them after initial complaints in testing, but I really should have taken the time to put in some kind of warning graphic that stands out a bit more.
And I think the scrolling background in the Rumia battle was taken out in order to be able to put the castle message back in without it breaking, which in hindsight maybe wasn’t the best tradeoff.

i really do like the idea behind An Echoing Call, as dumb as it is. the idea of turning something as inconspicuous as the message blocks into something that hinders and inconveniences you at every turn is HILARIOUS and actually pretty effective all things considered. also haven't the few people who have tried to speedrun this game just, made an utter FOOL of An Echoing Call and skipped almost every one of the "necessary" message blocks?

I have no recollection of the Rumia fight having a scrolling background, but sure enough I looked in my old videos and it definitely scrolls.
While the boss is really cool, I still kinda wish you could just stand in one spot and win as a secret

Re: ASMT 11th Anniversary LP - Hey There Guy
Didn't someone make a parody (if that's the right word in this context) of Echoing Call for some other talkhaus project? Where the help message happened automatically every few seconds?

Re: ASMT 11th Anniversary LP - Hey There Guy
The Rumia boss is great, the level not so much.
Also as annoying as An Echoing Call can be, it holds a special place in my heart. It's pretty clever in its ways of using awkward narrow spaces to mess with you. And the part where you get stuck between a note block and a message box while waiting for a P-switch to time out is funny

Re: ASMT 11th Anniversary LP - Hey There Guy
Oh man, I remember "AN ECHOING CALL". Well, the first half of it anyway. The second half came as a total surprise to me. I do wish the ice spawners were marked with something other than coins. On one of my early attempts I made it to pretty much the last noteable obstacle, only to instinctively jump towards the coin marking the very last ice spawner, resulting in me dying. Then it became a case of an early attempt being really good, and then taking several more attempts to replicate it. It doesn't help that this level has some other issues, but one thing that was really throwing me off until I realized what was going on is that not all the ground has ice physics.

Re: ASMT 11th Anniversary LP - Hey There Guy
An Echoing Call reminds me of janky IWBTG fangames, which isn't necessarily an indictment of the level's quality. That sort of thing does have its own flavor.

did you make any bosses in smw after rumia?yoshicookiezeus wrote: ↑1 year ago Perhaps despite my better judgement I do genuinely really like An Echoing Call, mostly because I still find the message box gimmick in the first half hilarious. I must have been thinking of either that or this from Betterified II, like Kilgamayan suggested

Re: ASMT 11th Anniversary LP - Hey There Guy
When I first played this hack, I had no idea who Cirno was, nor what the Lakitu replacement was supposed to be in this level. Probably some sort of pig doll. Who throws ice cubes for some reason. It made about as much sense as any of the other graphic replacements.
