Re: Okami HD - Cuckoo and Azaleas
Fun Okami Facts!
There was originally going to be another flying enemy using the same skeleton rig as the Great Tengu! It would've been called the Gotouryu (literally 'five-headed dragon') and been a flying demon with five dragon heads instead of legs. However, it was never actually put to use anywhere in the game because Hideki Kamiya, after putting the model into the game, straight up forgot it was there and never used it.

The mail carriers are jerks in their post-race dialogue. Even Issun refuses to respond to them.

He says stuff each time you kill a dude on a hitlist, you've just tuned him out at this point
He even did a minor Issun lecheration over Haruka at one point and no one batted an eye

maybe the reason why I've been enjoying myself so much with the clean-up is how little issun gets a chance to speak

Proposing a game mod where Issun says "wow, another stray bead! That's another one in the bag! Keep this up and you'll have 'em all before you know it, furball!!! And then it opens up your stray beads screen and highlights the one you just got for a few seconds.

Might as well say, the only things you're not getting for full completion at this point are:
- full treasure tome
- full animal tome
- full fish tome
- all dojo tech
- all praise (tho theres a good chance you'll max out stats before the end, which i guess is enough depending on your definition of full completion)
- all demon fang artifacts (you might end up buying them all anyway actually)
It's probably a good thing youre not doing all of these, but I'll talk about them here anyway.
For treasures, you're only missing unique ones (ones that only appear once), and I think all the ones you're missing are zodiac statues. For example, one of the statues you missed was during the web swinging in city checkpoint, that one island you noticed along the way that had a chest on it. I believe that chest contains the horse statue or something. I suppose getting all the unique treasures is not unlike getting all the stray beads, but they always appear in chests, and I don't remember where they all were.
For animals, you know the drill. Some of them are surprisingly hidden (there are some rats in Gale Shrine that took me forever to find for example). Also as I recall, birds only appear during the day (I think they are the only animals sensitive to time of day?), and there are two types of birds. The green birds I think usually appear nearby guardian saplings. Of all the animals in the game, my understanding is only one single animal is missable, and that is the dog in Kamiki during the Spirit Gate time travel sequence.
For fish, theres no real strategy afaik, it's just patience. There are 3 fishing ponds by the end of the game: the samurai guy in sei-an city (next to the mermaid spring), the guy who caught the marlin in N. Ryoshima Coast on the island, and the kid in Kamui by the dojo. There is some overlap, but for the most part each pond has a unique pool of fish to catch. I have no idea if time of day affects what fish spawn; I tried several things to get new ones to spawn, but it seems like you just have to fish over and over and hope for the best. Occasionally you may have to quit and start again, if the fish you need is one of the small ones. On the other hand you may have to fish for an exceptionally long time to get one of the big ones. You are really not missing out by not doing this. It's my least favorite part of full completion.
For praise puzzles, theres a lot of missable praise (probably most of it is during the Spirit Gate sequence from clovers). As mentioned, any extra praise beyond the 750 you still need for the last 2 astral pouches will also give you extra yen. So a 30 praise clover would give you 30000 yen for example. It's a nice way to get money, but devil gate trials are still probably better.
Not much to say about dojo tech or demon fang treasures that you don't already know. So I guess that's all I have to say. The only other notable thing is NG+ I suppose.

There was a "Two Women" option for today's thread title but the context for it was Exceedingly Not Appropriate so this was the best alternative

The final rosary makes a lot of flashing lights when hitting enemies. Is it still as powerful if the main and sub weapon are switched?

Re: Okami HD - The Principal Gate of Kira's Mansion
Those giant clay doll enemies that appear in Kamui are really good for demon fangs since they give 4 with a simple power slash.
In addition to their sheer number, the enemies in the demon gate trial gauntlets are also stronger than the ones you see in normal encounters. That's probably why raocow was surprised by how quickly the tengu enemy went down in a normal fight after they were so troublesome in the demon gate.
The stray bead you get from giving Urashima the treasure box from the Dragon Palace can be one of the trickiest to find because it's listed as being in Ryoshima Coast in the menu, but you can only get it by exploring a different area.
