Man what is up with the hammer bros map behavior? They've been doing stuff I've never seen before in this run. First with them running around for like 30 seconds the other day, and now this one just won't move until you kill it?

Have they always done this? Is it just something weird in the SMAS version? Or maybe is something about the modified code messing with their behavior? Like maybe if their random position they move to is seeded by your number of lives so that guy wasn't moving cause the lives weren't going down. Just spitballing

seems like a good excuse for a crouch+pwing combo

IIRC the issue is the amount of levels that place a lakitu right at the end of it.

Any% would skip the whole game and go straight to world 8

100% would probably take the secret path to get the music box,
and save the cloud for either an impossible level, or just one of the hell levels in the sky

Oof man, I am expecting some shenanigans next video

"This LP is an exploration of a concept"

*runs back and forth on the final screen of every level for 20 minutes*

yeah this lp is all about the concept of lakitu wrangling, the sport of the future

I feel like duck-jump-tail-fluttering could have been helpful in 5-6? You seemed to actively avoid ever trying it, which was odd.

Alternatively you could have gone full galaxy brain and Clouded past it

I feel like using a tool you got by slaughtering a hammer brother (if that's how you got that tool) isn't inherently "more pure" than just cheating past one or two impossible spots in a level, or skipping it. So it all depends on what's interesting to raocow.

Having demonstrated twice that it's possible to clear out Lakitu at the end of a level, I don't think anyone reasonable would blame you for "taking it as given" on future levels with an identical setup, and cheating past it. But also, same as above, it depends on what's interesting to you.

When the cow is doing the wrangling, something has gone very wrong, or at least very interesting. Perhaps both.

I feel like those end level Lakitus are meant to be an end level lives boost reward in a normal run.

Brother Mario, the wanderer learning the way of the mushroom, has reached the path of rime.
Along this path, nature shows that it can be harsh to those who follow a pacifist's life.
The plants produce barbed fruit of iron, the frozen land rejects his steps, and parts treacherously... giving way to a misty abyss.

Yet he proceeds.

He does not eat the iron fruit, and continues without sustenance.
When his steps are twisted by the frozen ground, his disciplined movements help keep his balance.
And when the very world parts before him, he sails the sky - Free of sin, his soul is light, and he is carried by the clouds.

Brother Mario's journey continues...

Spikes are a species that are in a perpetual state of passing ginormous kidney stones.

It is incredibly painful, however extremely beneficial from an evolutionary standpoint.

Thus they continue to thrive.

I don't think I ever bothered to look up artwork of a buster beetle to see what it's actually supposed to be depicting until now.
And I mean I guess I can see what they were going for with a big arm but I still will always just see a weird faceless blob of flesh under that shell

As a child, I once read the Super Mario Bros. 3 player's guide, and 6-8 was referred to as "Rough and Tumble Tundra". This phrase has been glacially etched in to my mind ever since.

I'm surprised to see a king that talks by moving his mouth instead of blinking or swinging his legs or whatever else does not actually make mouth sounds.
