La-Mulana 2 - fish. it is a fish. it's true.

this is the place where lps are being talked about. it's important to talk about games being played on the internet.

About half the video was spent in the same room, haha. It's unfortunate that such an elaborate puzzle can be brute-forced, but that's the fault of the game designers. It probably should have been designed using multiple mantras per turn instead of a single mantra per turn, perhaps combined with something like instadeath or high damage punishments to deter guessing.

I really wish they didn't post that, since he's not done with them yet. I don't believe he understands why you could input the footprint code a second time in a different way yet. Let us all be thankful that the final footprint puzzle can not be brute forced.

TBF, since it was a personal server with raocow's irl friends, that whatever the context was, I doubt it was intended to spoil anything. Having said that, he did ask for the solution, and someone in the yt comments already told him about that.

Well that was painful to watch. raocow, if even you are saying it feels bad, why don't you stop trying to brute force it and figure out the proper solution instead? You really gotta work on your tunnel vision when it comes to puzzles in games.

One of the worst puzzles I ever brute forced was in a game with a 4 number combination lock.

I just sat there and tried combinations, and when I apparently found the right one, it turned out that was the final puzzle and I beat the game.

This is why I have a love hate relationship with flash games.

Maybe puzzle games could have a message popup after enough time has passed saying "Hey are you brute forcing this? How about you try something else"

I'm sorry, that's my bad, he didn't actually take screenshots of the waffles. I got him mixed up with the wiki.

Spoilers for lore surrounding Ra:
The reason you need to do the slight weight puzzle is because Ra can't actually get to the gate of the dead with the white seal over it. You're technically responsible for the deaths of all the people Ra absorbed. Amen actually mentions that he's the most likely target for Ra to absorb first.

Frankly I struggled over whether to take screenshots of the waffles. Both because I was worried it could be too much of a tell as to their importance, and because one of the key related hints - the name of the rooms in which they appear - wouldn't be captured that way (and it's a hint you're only going to get if you actively *go back* to their locations to look at them, as raocow did in yesterday's supplemental video). I eventually decided to just mark their locations on the maps for ease of revisiting. I'd have certainly screenshotted them if requested, but raocow did fine without. :)

Edit: Better than fine actually. Today was some top-tier observation, reasoning, and educated guesswork to fill in the gaps.

(4:46) Who wants another helping of pancakes?
(10:41, 10:46) If 2-1 is the second tablet on the top row, then wouldn't 1-3 be the first tablet on the third row? Or, should 2-1 be the first tablet on the second row?
(11:12) Welp, that combination is incorrect. I wonder if you mixed up either 2-1 or 1-3...
(11:42) And, that was wrong too, resulting in your death since the red judgment zap deals 88 damage, and you had only 83 HP.
(14:14) Yep, you mixed up 2-1, which you meant 1-2 for.
(The 8x4 grid and all these numbers keep making me think of Super Mario Bros. 35.)
(15:38) Yeah, us humans aren't perfect, and we make mistakes.
(17:26) Oh, this combination was correct! Nicely done!
(17:52) Wow, I was expecting up to two separate helpings of pancakes here, but you dodged both of them! I'm really surprised the second one didn't squish you, even though it looked like it did hit you!
(19:06) Alright, it's boss time, vs. Aten-Ra!
(19:48) Rolling ball = 16 damage.
(19:52) Collision with that giant mass = 8 damage. (Probably pancake death if it lands directly on top of you.)
(19:57) Collision with the boss's body = 31 damage.
(20:10) Arm thingy = 8 damage.
(20:15) Laser = 22 damage.
(20:56) Bird = 7 damage.
(21:00) Dung beetle = 7 damage.
(21:37) Aw, I was holding out hope that you'd win on the first try.
(21:52) Boss collision that time = 62 damage. Must've been a double-hit somehow.
(22:01) Wow, that enemy telefragged you or something.
(22:22) Flamethrower = at least 26 damage.
(22:35) Start of the winning run.
(23:55) Flamethrower = 37 damage.
(24:58) Victory! Aten-Ra slain!
(25:55) Crucifix get!

Aten-Ra is such a cool boss. Got the disco rave music, got a really flashy design, got the buildup....

and iirc he's the only guardian in either game who actually creates life mid battle. I know a couple minibosses can do that, but their spawns are generally just babies or whatever. In a sense, he came the closest to replicating the Mother's power out of anyone.

It's a damn shame he's such a comparatively weak boss. Even in hard mode he doesn't put up much of a fight and in normal mode he's kind of a joke.

I think you did fine. I'm surprised why raocow was like, "Oh man I better go google to double check what these things look like, despite having this helpful guy and a recording showing them all."

Mr.Google has no filter and will spoil every death in Game of Ice and Fire. He'll turn all of your milk sour, He'll put stupid air-foils on the back of your car. Dude just spoils everything.

When I played for the first time, I never made the connection that the "spike" symbol was the hint to figuring out the pyramid. Instead, there's a small image of a mantra summon on that same tablet, and so I took it upon myself to figure out what the mantra configuration was to make it look like the image on the tablet, then tried that. Still worked! But I like the proper solution better.

You can't hurt him while he's up "inside" the sun because attacks (including flares) just dink off of the sun's own hitbox. Once he comes down, flares work like everything else to deal him damage. Slower going than the Axe though, but could be a reasonable option I suppose if you come to the fight without it.
