La-Mulana 2 - fish. it is a fish. it's true.

this is the place where lps are being talked about. it's important to talk about games being played on the internet.

As AweStriker said, only one is available that way. You have to visit Nebur's shop 40 times which is actually quite a lot and unlikely to happen in one playthrough. I usually got my weights at her shop when I played and still only visited her maybe a dozen times by the end of the game. The others are unlocked through getting all glossary entries (can only be completed nearly at the end of the game and it's possible to be permanently locked out of one of them unless that was finally fixed), getting all items (another endgame thing), and then the final one is for beating the game. So three of the keys are basically completely useless for a blind lp like raocow or for anyone who's only likely to ever beat the game once.

Not many new items were found in the past 5-6 videos (just the Ice Cloak, along with a couple of Fairies and a bunch of maps), but I think it's good progress. A lot of new fields were opened, so there's more to recheck as things begin to piece together. More than anything, I'm enjoying the LP because I get to see his thought process and what his rationale is for doing certain things, as long as it's cerebral and not just trying random things out.

I want to see him visit Nebur's shop more in hopes that he'll piss her off. So far, he's somehow managed to not accidentally trigger that dialogue, even in the first game!

I've beaten this game before but I don't know if the following is fact so please don't think I'm spoiling anything.

When fighting Glasya-Labolas, it appeared that he only did his charge attack if you were close to him, otherwise he spits little guys and reveals his weak spot. If that's the case, then you could probably beat him now without double jump by spacing yourself carefully, getting a couple hits in and running away before he charges. And then if he does, just let the hit happen and duck under the jump back.

I've always wondered about that, kinda reminds me about the gate of time or whatever it was called in the first game where you essentially went through the MSX version of things.
Neat.

A question regarding
the repaired Ankh Jewel in the original La Mulana ruins. I presume that the Ankh you purchase from Hiner corresponds to the Icefire Treetop, because we saw Ratotaskr steal, and presumably break it? I assume it'd be him since we've seen nothing else able to exit Eg-lana.

If so, I'm curious as to what informs you that it's there? Do you get an email telling you that Hiner gets new items in stock? Because raocow seemed to get all the hints after the fact. Are you just expected to mindlessly backtrack?

I have spent the past two weeks waiting for raocow to finally talk to Mulbruk more than once and I feel like all my La-Mulana 2-related dreams have now come true, thank you. Also regarding the above:
The shopkeeper says when you first enter the ruins that he'll be open later. I think it's not unreasonable for a player to head back into the old ruins and check it out, which you could have done since very early in the game.

My best guess is that because he never ever visited Hiner after the shop opened (in episode TWO!!) it maybe breaks the check to tell him that the Ankh exists/is being repaired and is done being repaired. The messages he got shortly after visiting are supposedly meant to happen way earlier, like shortly after you have killed three guardians.

I believe what Duker has described is most likely correct. (Edit: Also, Hiner tells you when you first visit him that his shop isn't open *yet*, which is a clue to check back on him until it is indeed open.)

Also,

Ankh Jewels don't really "correspond" to Guardians or areas in this game like they did in the first game. For example, while Ratatoskr did indeed steal an Ankh Jewel in Icefire Treetop, raocow subsequently found another Ankh Jewel in Icefire Treetop after defeating Vedfolnir.

Jormungand was my first wall when I played. I think I panicked too much, and didn't realize that safe area exists when he's firing his pistol. I think I ended up using my Gun and first bullets here, then facetanked until he died. Not very dignified, but it worked.

Also thank goodness you finally went back to the Gate of Guidance and found the Codices! A few of us have been wondering if you'd ever get back there in due time, because that email you got about Ankh Jewels in the shop usually shows up way earlier in a playthrough. We were wondering behind spoilers why the heck you hadn't gotten the message yet. Codices are so extremely helpful.

Mulbruk will be Mulbruk. She talks a big game but in the end, screw this she's going home. At least she has a sweet tent.

I imagine if you're getting stuck more often, Mulbruk is way more helpful? Like, she'll have more things to tell you if you haven't already figured out so much yourself.

It seems like "playing a little bit each day, then seeing that footage back as you edit a youtube video" is a pretty good way to play the game without ever getting really stuck.

And having his notes taken for him, in greater detail and scope than most people would, is also a really big deal that can't be understated.

raocow, you should pay more attention to your messages from npcs. You missed that you got two when you entered Indra's altar.

Also Jormungand is a shining example of why pretty much all the bosses in this game are inferior to LM1. Jormungand is basically Palenque except notably worse since you can effectively only attack him when he's on the right side of the screen which appears to be dictated by complete rng. raocow was a lot luckier than I was when fighting him. He'd spent a solid 90+% of his time on the left side of the screen where I couldn't do shit to him. This sort of problem is very common with every boss in this game whereas in LM1 you could pretty much attack at all times with few exceptions. (Ie: When Tiamat did her big laser attack you could still attack her but shouldn't because it basically guaranteed you'd take a shit load of damage.)

Poor Mulbruk, you'd think she of all people would know that the names for places in the ruins are very literal.

doesnt help that a lot of these bosses are mostly remixes of Lm1 bosses except now you spend about 10 seconds waiting for them to stop stomping around in the background and actually fight you
