I feel like a total plebian because I genuinely can't tell the quality difference between this and JUMPRT(4)^-1. The only difference I can tell is that one takes itself seriously and one doesn't.

I wouldn't say JUMP takes itself seriously either. It's just that each game has a different design ethos it's focused on, with more levels trending towards that ethos.

Yump 2, to me, seems like an excuse to just make a bunch of levels with no pressure to have them be of a certain quality or be cohesive in a world, and to have gimkicks that wouldn't really work in any other style of hack.

Also an excuse to flex some kaizo design, as we'll see more of eventually.

I didn't do the math, but I estimated that maybe a third of the game is kaizo levels at least. Is that on the money?

Man, this game just keeps being consistently amazing. I had the biggest smile on my face for the entirety of that grocery store level; it’s just the perfect mix of silly and incredibly creative. Also the Chucks being reskinned to pipe tops in the last part of the prison escape level is the dumbest thing and I absolutely love it.

I understand why Mario might want to go vegan, but why does that require travelling through a hellish voidspace?

So I went first down the lefthand path when I first poked at this hack, and I was quick to learn of the existence of not only the YSP which was, a time, but also mario goes vegan. I had, somewhat known that it was "a thing" going into it. I sure didn't expect how really much of a thing it was. It was a time for certain, I did end up using savestates but only in the last section because I felt like that was a bit too much (which is saying something because the fire flower section is also a lot and probably actually harder in some ways than the cape section, I just am terrible with cape flight control shenanigans and the whole "fly up with object, kick object, then resume flight and maintain control" was way too much on my hands to do while also doing the sections immediately before and after).

Of everything I have played in the hack up to now it's certainly one of the hardest levels I've seen. Like I dunno if it's kaizo proper but it's certainly, a thing.

"So are you saying that when you kill a Koopa normally you eat 'em?"

Yeah vegans don't have a problem with killing stuff, just eating it

"vegan" had the same stylings you'd expect out of a raolevel. curious to see who made it

also liked "grocery store" and the concept behind "uses the toilet".

As someone who gave out free samples at a market, this is exactly how it feels to go to work. Though I have to report this establishment to OSHA for putting employees at risk by having other employees throw them into a bottomless pit.

I didn't realize empty shells were living things in their own right. That's concerning.
