it's not nearly as interesting once it started to focus more on military encounters, I find. 'Buildings' is also a weirdly repetitive environment!

So...to answer something that raocow asked: Yes, you can grab live grenades with the gravity gun and send them back. I wouldn't recommend it, especially because you like sticking to a single weapon, but it can be done.

I think you get an achievement for it, but there's usually not much reason to. Not unless you already had the gravity gun out at the time the grenade came flying at you.

I do agree with raocow, I feel like this section of the game kinda drags. I much prefer being the One Free Man wading through zombies, aliens, and wilderness.

Did raocow sneakily disable the music or something? It feels soooo weird that these big fights don't have any

Maybe this was just me, but in my experience music doesn't really work right when loading the game from a quick save.

Since rao likes the rebar crossbow I'll post a video of someone constructing and using one in real life:

The crossbow was always my favorite weapon, I won $40 in a Half-Life 2 Deathmatch tournament back in '05 with it, true story :pal:
($40 was the grand prize, it was a small tournament)

Guys, help me out here. I think Barney wants raocow to go someplace, but I can't figure it out. He's being really subtle about it.

Soooo, the game never tells you, but alt-fire on grenade does an underhand "roll" throw. In this situation, it would've been useful, but given you haven't really come across any other situation that benefits from this, I don't exactly blame you for not knowing.

This is kinda what I meant by this section of the game dragging. You're just wandering around the maze of a broken city shooting any Combine you see and occasionally getting directed to blow up Striders and Gunships, or turn off energy fields. It's all kind of aimless and just... keeps... going...

Also I do not remember there being that many Striders here. They always seemed to me to be disproportionately tough to be able to take that many rockets to the head and keep Striding.

I mean, the head is armored. You gotta aim for the guts! They go down faster, they're not Mario bosses that always take X hits.

Speaking of excessive backseating, the user Victor Pedrova in the Youtube comments keeps insisting that raocow should quit this because he's not enjoying the game, can rao tell the user that is wrong

Well, you heard it here folks.

...Really though, what is it about backseating that's so irresistible to people?
Isn't the whole point of watching someone play a game blind to...you know...watch them play it blind?
Telling people what to do kinda defeats the purpose of it.
Uh...Do I just sign here? What do you mean it should be obvious? There are people in this world...well...a whole lot of people that can't follow basic instructions!

Ah, the Citadel.

I agree with raocow: the architecture is kind of bland and boring yet at the same time doesn't look like something humanity would ever build. It's drab and utilitarian, yet also alien. Oppressive and foreboding, and seeming to follow some other form of logic.

This level is tons of fun, and the "super Gravity Gun" is stupidly awesome, but it also at the same time has my least favorite bits of level design in any Valve game: climbing into the Combine prisoner coccoon thing.

Why would ANYONE ever do this? It'd be one thing if the Citadel's security scooped up Gordon upon entering (which is ultimately what happens anyway), but you have to willingly enter the pod. It's just so dumb!
