Now, historians are somewhat divided on the question of when exactly the Fourth Golden Age of VIP during the reign of the House of raocow started. One thing that is indisputable is that it was in full swing by the time that raocow V finished his performance of the watershed that was VIP7. Certainly, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that this was the event that cemented VIP's influence in the public consciousness, due to the hack's very sudden release, with a mere week's notice of its very existence [1][2]. VIP6's influence is often overlooked, being considered disillusioning for its long development time and underwhelming technology compared to its predecessor, VIP5 [3][4][5]. Yet we must not let hindsight cloud our assessment of how the events were viewed at the time. Although it is often overshadowed by its sequel, this essay shall analyze raocow III's performance of VIP6, arguing that although it was still unfinished at the time, it garnered sufficient interest as the first new VIP experience for the royal house in almost a decade. As such, it was an important stepping stone, a bridge of momentum between the same ruler's redo of the previous installments and the excitement surrounding VIP7, culminating in a sway of public opinion that allowed King VIPPER of the House of VIP to successfully usurp raocow V several years later. Surely, history would have taken a significantly different course if VIP6 had not existed.

It's a highly anticipated (in the niche internet sense) hack that's been in development for eight years now. It hasn't seen any progress in the last three years, but it's only missing the final bonus boss, so now's as good a time as any to play it (unless it actually gets finished in which case then would probably be a better time to play it).

Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

I'm still waiting for 06 personally.

The blockout reference in Way Groovy was more of a Kirby's Block Ball reference, going along with the ExGFX and custom music in the aboveground section. Okay game but I never bothered getting all the high scores to fight Dedede.

Capitlol is a hard stage, but it can be learned. I just beat it with a time of 76, only taking so long due to getting all the VIP coins. Got the springboard at a time of around 114? The higher initial difficulty is to the game's benefit due to starting with stronger levels, but it does result in a much, much harder late and mid game, which can be a downer for some.

Think I'll make a small bonus save to try and play along. I probably wont go for all VIP coins, but...

I was not expecting a VIP to start off with a Kawabata reference. It almost ended with one too, but only in the English translation (Kawabata's book The Old Capital and that Detective Conan movie don't have similar titles in Japanese).

Yeah, I haven't been watching much of the 'all the' zone because I've no connection to either Megaman or Sonic. But you bet I'll be checking in on Sonic '06 to see how that goes.

1. How difficult SMW ASM is in the first place

2. The ludicrous expectations for a "VIP Boss"

that there is literally only that boss left to do and it's been put off for three years

if you're making something kinda eh like neo vipdeath or the seven AA, it's just one level beyond what mariofangamer's tutorial teaches

if you're making something like julius or tanasinn you're gonna need either to be a fast learner or to take your time to learn the ins and outs of the snes, there's mode 7, dynamic hdma, masking/windowing, dma uploads i think too?

yaruo 02 is basic mode 7, i think the tutorial on smwc is kinda eh, but the video on it by dotsarecool is pretty informative

Well, let's hope then that raocow is even able to play it. Last I saw, someone in the spotztone was checking to see if it was playable in an emulator, and I believe their testing hasn't been successful so far.

I wanna see it too, but if he can't emulate it and can't get a copy and hardware, it have to unfortunately go in the "can't play" list :(

from what I understand

- some people in the team believe they should have a sort of level 'standard' to be accepted
- some other people believe that goes against the ethos of what 'vip and wall mix' represent
- implosion
- nobody works on the game anymore

it's a very typical 'project on the internet' kind of story :(

Well, VIP5 was also a development mess, but it got finished in the end, took them four years or so (most of the time the project was 99% complete), when previous VIPs took less than a year each. In a way, VIP5 development hell was comparable to JUMP 1/2 development hell.
