I have no connection to this game or any reason to create the thread. I've never even played it! But it's been over 4 hours since a video was up and there's no thread yet and so I guess it's my civic duty to rectify that? Oh God I've never done this before :o
If there's some anyone who really wanted to make this thread, I can abdicate the throne. But for now, here we go!

lol
Sig's one of my fave Puyo characters so.
SIG as a character is rather uncomplicated.
That's literally all I can think of when I see SIG's name.

I was gonna but I didn't have much of a connection to this game outside of currently playing SIG World 1. I might go through all of em, maybe save 10, 20 and 30 for later since they're best-of level compilations. The most I could describe is "This person made 38 hacks and is planning on making more and they're all romps that just monster along the way".Matt is me wrote: ↑4 years ago If there's some anyone who really wanted to make this thread, I can abdicate the throne. So far this hack certainly isn't bad, but is doesn't exactly seem... inspired? Then again, if the creator really made thirty-eight full-sized hacks then he's probably going for quantity over quality.

I was just making a pun based on the title of the thread and the contents of Margaretha MacLeod's post, I don't actually have an opinion yet :v

Re: Super SIG World 38 - Somewhat Interesting Game
so this is only tangentially related but i started watching today's vid almost as soon as it popped up and i noticed that it had a comment asking to be "youtube friends," whatever those are
probably nothing more than just some awkward peep who has struggled to make real connections with people, right? that was my first instinct ... when i saw comments like that on a video about a paper mario bug
but then i saw it on other mario-related vids
and now one's the first comment on this very mario-related vid
thing is i kinda doubt that they're spam bots, because they seem a bit too alive to be bots. but it absolutely smells of goonery, and while i have no idea what these guys could be up to, it strongly feels of malicious intent

Re: Super SIG World 38 - Slowly Improving Gem
Feeling better about the hack this morning. There were some decent ideas with pathing and basic platform setups. The only thing I dislike is that the hack uses the free movement camera, where it's always trying to track Mario's Y-position. That camera movement always starts to trigger some kind of motion sickness in me. But I can avoid it by not watching in fullscreen so I'll just keep watching like that.

Re: Super SIG World 38 - Slowly Improving Gem
Does anyone know when the first SIG World came out? What is this guy's rate of releasing hacks?
I'm trying my best not to make any judgement having only seen 1 world of a hack so far but right now this is gonna have to convince me that these things have a reason to exist. I don't have much to say that hasn't already been said. Good on the guy for getting projects done, and I guess if he just likes to relax and make some vanilla-as-hell Mario levels at the end of the day, power to him. But the end product is not particularly impressive.
Who knows, maybe it'll pick up once we get further in. We can hope!

Re: Super SIG World 38 - Slowly Improving Gem
IIRC - can't find the thread right now - some of the later numbered SIG worlds are literally just straight up improvements on earlier ones, basically remakes but nonetheless incrementing the count and having a distinct number.
Super SIG World 4 was the first to have a manually placed copyright of 2008...
...SIG 26 released in 2012, suggesting that at least 22 were made in a span of 4 years...
And SIG 38 has a copyright of 2019. So about 2 full size hacks a year since 2012...?
IDK, I'm no good at this sort of math and don't feel like googling deeper than I already have. Suffice to say they're prolific but appear to have slowed down lately.

Re: Super SIG World 38 - Slowly Improving Gem
Every multiple of 10 is also a best-of compilation hack featuring levels from the 9 previous SIGs.
