The nitro staircase thing was cool.

I will admit that after watching Bee-Having it felt like it was naturally building up from Diggin' It, and the level makes more sense this way. As someone said in the comments in video 11, the latter is like a tutorial of the gimmicks for the former.

The N. Gin fight is pretty fun, but it does look odd that Crash suddenly gains the ability to shoot wumpa fruit for this fight (maybe

it's a precursor for the bazooka in Warped

). The N. Sane remake at least gives him throwing animations rather than just have fruit appear. Also boss, I thought you were supposed to collect the crystals, not start a fight.

I thought N. Gin was a girl my entire life until less than a few months ago.

Also, this supports the idea that Crash really has no idea about the crystals thing at all.

Once you get the purple gem you don't even need to do the rest of that path, you can just hop in a pit and finish the main level and it saves. Weird that they'd put it at the start and not make you do the whole thing...

Especially since the rest of that path was like... genuinely good and challenging 2D platforming

That level in general was pretty solid tbh. Maybe you'll redeem yourself yet, 2 crash

Sturg actually is a good guy in this game. Most of the unreasonable stuff the game asks you to do is for going after the gems, so he tells you to just get the crystal from each stage to ensure you have a nice, fun time throughout. It's only if you ignore his advice that things start to get really silly.

The issue with the slide jump is that you need to have a bit of momentum before you execute it. Otherwise, you'll go into a crouch instead. That's why this world is dangerous in spots because they love those tight platforming scenarios where you have to get the slides in quickly and possibly stop on a dime right after.

I like some of the stuff in this game a lot. It's just pure platforming goodness.

Something that a lot of people don't realize with certain obstacles is that

Crash can spin a lot more things than you might think.

Can I just take a moment to say how much I absolutely love how raocow sings along with the music of the hub for the first few seconds of each video? It's seriously one of my favorite things about this LP :pal:

can't wait for raocow to play rayman 1. there's definitely no ridiculously unnecessary darkness level in that game, no sir

especially not in the PC version, where that darkness gimmick that doesn't exist definitely isn't way worse than in the PS1 version that also doesn't exist

Darkness gimmicks will always be the worst.

I feel like Crash Bandicoot eventually gets one that's *fine*. Mostly because the darkness gimmicks in the games are secretly just races

Something I wasn't aware until I watched Piston It Away in another channel is that

you can spin the spark shots from the shrink rays

. That would have made the level easier, although it made for a good challenge without knowing that.

For the jetpack levels, I thought there was an option in the pause menu to switch up/down controls?

Or was that introduced in the third game?
