I'm also wondering if raocow realizes it yet that

when a kong is carrying the other kong, you can put the kong down instead of tossing the kong forward or upward

"Drunk Sonic" was my friend's nickname for the Cat o' 9 Tails, so this would appear to be a common association. I'd not be surprised if the resemblance was deliberate.

Okay I give up, what's the lp title gimmick.

In other news, the haunted rollercoaster level is pretty intense, it's a step up from target terror

fictional currencies

raocow has a bit of a formula: the first episode title frequently has a double meaning, referring to something seen in the episode, such as the pirate galleon that makes up world 1 of DKC2. However, galleon is also the currency of Harry Potter. He's likely using a list like this one or this one. He also tries to match things on the list to the contents of the episode if he can.

It also dovetails nicely with the fact that every episode features Kremcoins, Banana Coins and DK Coins.

fun fact about the title gimmick!

it was decided at pretty much the last second. Like I had no idea what to do. I didn't want to use diddy's part in the dk rap because I knew the series would have too many videos, since I was pretty much flush with dkc1. I think I got the idea like as the video was being uploaded to youtube.

I always loved how the four Kackles in Haunted Hall have different color bandanas. They're all blue in the GBA version, though. :c

You know. You always hear about how DKC1 has only a single ice cave level, but no one really mentions that DKC2 only has a single haunted house level. Lots more they could've done with that concept, but all they *did* was just... haunted roller coaster. Kind of a shame.

I think it makes more sense for there to only be a single haunted house level bc the level associated w/ it is a lot more obviously a "set piece" if that makes sense? Whereas the ice cave in DKC1 feels like they had all these ice cave assets and just... Forgot to use them for more than one level.

Yeah, I s'pose that makes sense. I just like the "Haunted House" music and scenery, and would've liked to see it get at least one more stage based on it. :P

mr cow, the Klampons are this game's version of the Klaptraps. They're the crawly big headed chompy dudes.

Also, there's no difference between hair and fur. We just tend to reserve hair for humans while other mammals only get the fur usage. However, hairs on arthropods such as spiders and insects are referred to as hair for some reason. So yes, Squitter is hairy, not furry.

Fuzz on arthropods is sometimes referred to as hairs. Hair on arthropods is often referred to as setae with fuzzy spiders being setose. They are also called macrotrichia (Greek word for Big Hair), or sensilla if they are hairs have attached neurons and the hairs are designed for sensing the environment.
There might be more accurate connotations for the terms than what I'm giving here.

There are also sub cellular hairs called microtrichia, which you'd need a scanning electron microscope to see.

To differentiate setae from microtrichia. Setae are multicellular structures while microtrichia are not. Each seta has a Trichogen cell that grows the hair, a Tormogen cell that forms the socket where the seta exits from, and an attached sensory cell.
This is from my textbook so I suspect this to be an oversimplification.

The scales on moths are derived from macrotrichia and are flattened setae. Urticating hairs found on
spiders and some lepidoptera caterpillars are also modified setae.

Photo I took of a fuzzy caterpillar on a pine needle.

I'm glad raocow finished the Krow rematch with Dixie. Sure, everything about the fight is easier with Diddy, but it's still essential to let Dixie land the final blow, as there's something just so unspeakably awesome about shredding furiously on a guitar in a rainstorm while a ghost explodes in to stardust behind you.

I know it's a bit of a stretch to think the kongs would be non lethally taking down all the kremlings, especiallly when you see tnt barrels and stuff. It's still pretty wild for the game to explicitly have a boss fight to go "yeah no, Krow is dead, you killed him."

no yeah the kongs totally annihilated the kremling race by the end of DK64, that must be why they don't appear anymore in DKC Returns and Tropical Freeze.

Why not "Kredits", like the fake credits in the first DKC game? :3

For whatever reason, of all the levels in the game, Windy Well gave me the most trouble when I was a kid. I am not sure why, it's not as hard as many of the other endgame levels.

My thinking was specifically

the currency in Babylon 5, though I suppose credits are probably really common as far as fictional currencies go
