Same, and the same taciturn enjoyment that everyone else is having.

The like and view ratios on these videos are always great, so that's enough of an indicator I'd imagine

Incidentally, The Four Seasons was another level that would crash in the latest VIP5 version.

EDIT:
Also might be interesting to note that the money level is actually related to the infamous gas levels from prior VIPs. The author apparently considered giving it a name following the theme of those levels, along the lines of "Jingling Toxic Coins", but they thought that was too forced.
But I guess this means that money really is a gas.

raocow, it looks like you need to work on your reading comprehension while playing video games. At the least consider adding "double-check the message block in case I missed a clue" to your list of things to do when you're not sure of the next step.

I don't know how you kept forgetting that big Mario can break SMB3 bricks with his head and spent all that time juggling turtle shells to do it instead.
Even once you got inside, you casually broke your way out with your head and didn't seem to have an epiphany that there was an easier way in!

raocow saves his epiphanies for puzzle-platformers, not casual platforming where he can brute-force things the long way around as much as he sees fit :rao:

Magic Circle of Melancholia, huh?

I believe this should be Melencolia, as the level references Melencolia I. Explanations later, because spoilers. Also not sure where the circle came from, 魔方陣 is a magic square.

I did not catch the art reference. 魔方陣 in maths does refer to what is called a magic square in English, but when spelled in hiragana as it is in the game it becomes まほうじん, which is a homophone for 魔法陣, which refers to the circles you see in damn near every anime involving magic ever. Just google image search the term and you'll see what I mean. Considering the nature of VIP and how random references in it tend to be anyway, I figured that that would be the most likely meaning.

Oh, raocow.
Sees SMB3-style bricks. Tries breaking them by spinjumping. This fails. Immediately decides he needs to throw shells at them. Accidentally breaks one by hitting it from below. Does not notice.

Never change, man. :P

Also: raocow has a bucket o' hair. This is now canon.

Huge spoilers for Magic Circle of Melancholia in a spoiler, don't check before seeing the level, posting this early because I probably won't be available for next few days.
Credits to morsel for noticing this one. The second screenshot is after the counter actually starts counting points, the digits before 34 do change, but 34 doesn't change. It also happens in original Super Mario World, so it's an interesting coincidence, but still...

I like Icy Lake. Especially the music. It's Not too hard, not too easy in my opinion. I had fun with that level. Now, the ghost house I almost got all the way without much incident except that last area that leads to the goal. I ended uo going through that auto-scroll room like 5 times before I thought to go check those turnblocks for anything.
Huh. A SMW romhack is the last place I thought I'd hear Fire Emblem music, especially from Thracia 776. Not only does World 7 look cool, it's got FE5 music.

i started fire emblem thracia 776 in a mix of actual interest in the game and self-harm ideations, like the kind where you purposefully eat spicy stuff to hurt yourself but with video games but i never got back to it because other stuff

im sorry

i've never played a fire emblem before just ff dongdings, arc the lad (penis slang) and shining foreskin so i might just use a walkthrough

Assuming that second midpoint was DragonCoin activated?
That seemed very friendly. Not sure if uncharacteristically friendly; probably not.

Also, I've always wondered why Tanasin has claws.

There's kind of an issue with the sprites for horizontal dolphins. They wanted to do a little animation of like a speed/fart cloud coming out from his feet, so they had to make the sprite smaller to fit the cloud in and it makes it so half the time the sprite you see visually is shorter than the actual hitbox you can land on. I think that made things a bit more difficult.

I like Thracia a lot but I don't think it's as hard as people say, save for some parts that are poorly designed more than anything. Plus it complements its prequel/sequel Genealogy of the Holy War pretty well. Which is good, considering FE5 is a midquel and all. If you do ever go back to it I hope you at least end up not hating it.

At some point I stopped watching the original VIP5 LP, because I do not remember this world 7 at ALL. About the last thing I remembered from VIP5 was Livin' on the Deck.

Y'know, before VIP5 actually came out, I would obsessively refresh the VIP wiki looking for info and updates about it, despite the fact that I could read much less japanese at that time . At one time I was obsessed with VIP and wanted to see more. I remember seeing the title "Livin' on the Deck" on that wiki and at the time not knowing that it was a Metal Slug reference. I used to wonder about what that level would be like...

God, I can't believe the original release of VIP5 was 7 years ago. My life is so different now compared to then.

I remember being so amazed at Julius and Tanasinn.

carol's work on VIP and Brutal is the reason I got into RPGs at all, and as a result started exploring genres other than just platformers with the occasional puzzle game and Pokémon, and also caring more about narrative-focused and strategy-focused games, which I've grown to prefer far more over pure skill-focused games that you're forced to "git gud" at to proceed.

Julius is a character that matters a lot in my mind despite him being extremely flat in FF Adventure.
