This is the glitch I was referring to. This can be fixed by redoing Bowser's Castle. Don't worry, the Void rooms are still closed, and you can go to Toadsworth right away.
What? But I went to peach,s castle first! From the Bowser's Castle I went to the pipe, went through the sewers, got in Peach's castle and nothing changed. After that I went to the store to try to buy the spacesuit and again I couldn't. How can you have a glitch that comes from 'doing things in a natural order'. I sure as hell don't want to redo the castle just because of that, even without the void doors!
I'm not sure how that even occurred (most likely a technical issue), but in cases like that, I would go into the editor and place a goal right at the entrance of Level 127 (Bowser's Castle) and see if that works. If that doesn't work, I'm not sure what to say.
I have a savestate set at right before the level you just played today, I can beat it further, test to make sure it works right, then pass it along to you so you just load tomorrow and be at the castle.
Well, opening the file in lunar magic gives me garbled graphics, and if I try to add a goaltape there and save it doesn't 'appear'. Also, reseting the rom and starting 'new' with five lives doesn't fix anything. I can still start+select out of the level, so it's 'beaten'.
My savestate is right after beating the castle, without doing anything else!
You can try this savestate raocow though I can't guarantee anything because I think I'm using an older version of the hack than you are since Toadsworth was harder.
Well, I can go touch the princess and a cut-scene starts (turned off the emulator at that point) so I guess it works/ it is compatible!
That's a very annoying... thing, though. Like, put yourself in the shoes of someone that just randomly stumbles on the game and decides to try it, and who don't have this 'network' to help them.
I don't know if anyone knows a proper fix to that cutscene/ending bug, or if it's something screwy with the (S)RAM that caused it. It either happens or it doesn't.
Only thing I can think of is that the eight levels with eggs had flags that get set that are checked at peach's castle and that somehow they got screwed up along the way. Did you ever update the hack as you played? That might have done it, otherwise I'm not enough of an ASM person to guess further.
Edit: by the way, at the end of the credits you need to soft reset or reload that savestate since like the original, you have to reset/turn off the game once the credits are done.

If you ended up recording yourself encountering this problem, you may want to mention somewhere (either through PPR, in the description, or through annotations) that that is what most likely caused the trouble, as to not give people the wrong idea.
Wow those bullet hell Koopas did not look fun at all, however the platformy maze structure of the area afterwards looked pretty neat.
Toadsworth..... No words for that, cept that he belongs in a Cho Aniki game
I had the same problem. It's weird because I couldn't find much talk about on the SMWC forums, I'm somewhat glad I'm not the only one who hit this problem, but it's annoying because I've "beaten" Bowser's Castle like four times and Peach wouldn't look at me. Quite the annoying flaw in a game that really is not as bad as people give it flak for.
Once you enter the bonus world, you can use that IPS I sent you. I've updated on the site as well as of a little while ago. The SRAM tomfoolery ends after the tightpipes.
Note to future hackers/collab leaders/whatever: be careful with SRAM!
gotta be honest... I'm kind of disappointed at how badly that last boss was nudered in raocow's version. It doesn't even look half as difficult as the version that kept the falling rocks.
hope we dont see that with sizziling spires too :(
Way too much story. With music changes in the middle? Is that really necessary? Is Mario saying "SCORE!" ever possible in any universe ever ever?
The one thing I DID like was that the Toadsworth thing was virtual reality, because when I saw that final boss I really thought it was 'out there' for any kind of Mario game - especially Mr. Muscle March second form guy.
Erm, yeah, as far as a final boss I expected better than the old 'throw things at it' routine.
Well there's not much more that Mario can DO besides hop and throw. You'd have to make Mario able to punch and kick and put him up against Adobo from Double Dragon or something and then you aren't playing Mario, you're playing Double Dragon.
I guess you could give him a water cannon or something... but nobody liked that game or so I hear.
