I think if you manage to do it, this would be the first time in the series where you got all the emeralds in a main run without having to redo any special stages after beating the game, so good luck on that.

Leaving Tails there to steal your rings is either an oversight or something they didn't have time to fix, for sure.

I don't think so, it still increases your TAILS BONUS score. It's just that nobody cares about that.

Hmm, maybe. Just remember that we're in the "Sega making constant terrible decisions" phase now, even if it isn't necessarily showing in the Sonic games yet.

maximum score run where you give tails all the rings in the level and do his stage, then you give knuckles all the rings since they respawned, then you get all the rings a third time, then you beat the level

spread the wealth around

If you beat their stage you can play them again for a 1 up, so you could get all the rings at least two more times

I see the cracked wall in the first section and I'm just begging for the cow to see it.

But it was never meant to be.

"Volcano Valley with a fire shield" and "Volcano Valley but I just lost my fire shield" are essentially two completely different mental states

but you might also want to get points from the time bonus so you'd have to figure out what the returns are on each option i guess

i called it out on discord too, but - tomorrow's level (volcano valley 2) is the LAST CHANCE to get chaos emeralds for the rest of the game. so like. just a heads-up.

In case anybody's curious, besides the Director's Cut, there's another modded version of this game. This mod actually removes all of the Flickys and their requirements to progress, turning 3D Blast into a more traditional, albeit still isometric, Sonic platformer. That mod was the only time I ever actually sat down and completed the game, as I'm not fond of the mechanic where you have to re-find the Flickys you have after getting hit.

Personally, I think it would work best if somebody were to combine the two, and have a Flicky-optional version of the Director's Cut. I mean, most of the levels play out pretty well when you're just speeding from start to finish, and having to collect Rings for the Chaos Emeralds gives you the scavenger hunt feeling of the original level without the pain of collecting Flickys and the punishment if you get hit. (On top of the Director's Cut giving you Super Sonic as the reward) Making the Flickys optional without making them completely gone would let the Director's Cut still do it's thing of making the Emblems a 100% collectible since you usually need a full fleet of Flickys (say that four times fast!) with you to reach most of them.

Alternatively, you could just make the Flickys themselves optional but still make it a requirement to defeat all of the robots containing them. You still get to avoid the scattering punishment but the game is still mostly intact with having to search out all of the enemies.

I guess the most optimal version would be Flicky-Optional, but with Flicky-Removed as a Time-Attack option. Now if I only knew how to mod the game to put something like that together. I mean, I think the original developer is pretty much done with revisiting the game after releasing the Director's Cut version.

The best of them
Softer than feathers
You can call me Knuckles
Unlike Sonic I occasionally chuckle.

Saying not to judge some birds as better than other birds reminds me of some fun bird facts.

The State Bird of Idaho is the Mountain Bluebird (Sialia Currucoides).

The Ohio State Quarter features a bird.

Guess what that bird is.

The Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus), of course...

I feel like some of the bossfights have been okay. Mushroom Hill is kinda cool, Metl Sonic in Sky Sanctuary is kind of a mess but kinda works as a duel of sorts. I guess it cpntributes to your point that I'm struggling to think of any though.

The part where Sonic was bouncing around on 45 degree edges after getting the first big ring today reminded me of mini-golf.
I can't believe Sonic mini-golf isn't a thing.
