All the S@nics - the end
Re: All Of Sh@d@w - Rivals - Hugh
so, yeah, here we have another case of sega screwing up time travel and dimensional travel, though according to the youtube comments this is a retroactive example (maybe because of a miscommunication)
one more to go, and it has the least excuse out of all of them

Re: All Of Sh@d@w - Rivals - Hugh
forces you mean? i think that was a mistranslation on pontac and graff's behalf, but. at this point santiago* classic sonic and sonic 1&2 imagery is being dredged up for marketing's sake by sega like "look!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's the sonic you like!!!!!!!!!!! please love us" instead of like... focusing on helping sonic team make good modern games with budget and the like, like a normal company that i don't think they care anymore
* - not to be confused with 90s era classic sonic, which is good and not santiago, otherwise the injoke's meaning is lost

3/4 down!
And today, we've learned the real heart clutching, foot tangling, hair tearing twist of the game... it wasn't even Eggman!
DUN DUNNNNN
Really though, for a game where the plot is about as meaningful as the plot of the original sonic game for the most part, this at LEAST had a twist.

Re: Time For Silvær - Rivals - Silver
I feel like Shadow's storyline is the only one that's really added meaningful details. It wasn't exactly great, but it actually had a little more to it than "let's race just because".
This Silver and Knuckles dialogue is particularly bad. They could at least try to somehow fit in the whole nonsense plot point about using the Master Emerald to time travel. It wouldn't make any sense, but it would be more interesting than just two characters who've never really interacted trash-talking each other over basically nothing.

Okay, having seen... how things have gone toward the end there, I wanna know something. Early in the vid you said "I considered [...] trying to do this in two parts, but honestly, I gotta think about my mental health man." and even before that was a possibility, we reached the burnout point. How are you planning to approach Rivals 2? Is it worth cropping out any repeat content?

Re: Time For Silvær - Rivals - Silver
to my understanding rivals 2 has twice as many characters as 1
I really do not want to see the game played eight times with no fundamental difference in the campaigns besides brief cutscenes,

I mean rivals 2 has eight characters but split amongst four teams, *if* I go for another full exploration I'd split by team rather than individuals

Re: Time For Silvær - Rivals - Silver
It kind of bums me out how close we were to rao finishing three games in a single day of uploads. One episode shy from finishing sonic rivals at the same time as the other two. One day, perhaps, we'll get that three-at-once trifecta.
Re: Time For Silvær - Rivals - Silver
I wonder if we'll get anyone saying anything to the effect of "raocow didn't get all the cards, pls pleh game more"
It's worth noting that the game's story content is too short for all 150 different cards to appear in a full playthrough, and RNG allows for duplicates. The game's card collection will invariably be incomplete, and that impacts how much of the costumes we'll be able to see. With the 3/3/2/3/3/3 format of the levels, we get 17 from levels per story, plus the played character, so 18 x 4 = 72. Now, 72 cards total would be just under half the cards, meaning you could get 150 after 8 and a half playthroughs, but remember, duplicates are available, and all too present, so there's no guarantee that playing for any length of time will enable a complete collection. And since they tied outfit pieces to SPECIFIC CARDS, which are NOT tied to specific criteria, you're never guaranteed to have all the outfits from any amount of playthroughs either. You are never afforded that luxury of knowing you'll get a prize you're looking for. Not that it's particularly worthwhile, I remember from playing on PSP, the screen is Tiny. Those costumes? Don't look good. They don't. They're pixelly and awful and not worth the effort.
That said..... The game has the challenge section - you see it in the menu below the Story selection.
For the curious, challenge mode content spoilers:
I am personally of the opinion that it isn't worth it to 100% this game.

Re: Time For Silvær - Rivals - Silver
Okay, I misspoke - What I meant is there's a total of 6 zones, a total of One Plot Twist between stories, and literally no character gameplay differences. It'd be totally different if the stories had more substance to them, or there was variation through the levels like stage gimmicks that aren't just "watch the autoplay segment", and characters that have a physical gameplay difference - literally anything that would make playing their stuff worthwhile would be a bonus. The LENGTH of the game is fine, but the story's content is spread TOO THIN.
[edit] - Oh you cut off my original sentence midway, and that wasn't technically what i said, ok, sorry, im tired.

"Aw, he took the spot there. And then he didn't even use it well! He just fell, like an absolute buffoon."
In other words, Metal Sonic is the most fitting of rivals for raocow.
