ano0maly wrote: 1 year ago I do agree that a game that has significant flaws but is interesting would be more fun than a safe but dull one, but it depends on how you qualify "boring". A game does not have to put up a fight with challenging difficulty to be enjoyable - at least, the said game doesn't have to be a challenge all the time. A more easygoing experience, like today's A Hat in Time video, can be appreciated if there are elements that make the experience enjoyable, such as story and aesthetics. This is where genres such as visual novels come in.
Yeah, that's a very personal thing. For me, Black Knight has nothing interesting, because as raocow succinctly put it, if you don't enjoy the combat, the gameplay is extremely shallow, so the only thing it has going for it is presentation, and that is good. There were people in the Discord (and here as well, I think) quite vocal about how Sonic is so very Sonic in this game, and that's why they love it, and more power to them.

I can only, as always, argue about personal taste here: I do not care about Sonic as a character, I do not care about any characters, I play games for the gameplay. You would never get me to play a visual novel because it has nothing at all interesting to me. So that's why I'm so down on Black Knight.

I'm pretty sure that I'd quickly discover that it is actually a chore to play no matter how "good" you get at it, but I'm very tempted to try it and if I find it for a tenner in a bargain bin you better believe I'll hoover that shit up

Sonic's morality gets in the way more often in the IDW comics.

Dude actually needs to start killing his enemies there, the entire world suffers from his stubbornness.

i just want you to know that i literally only pirated rpg maker 2000 and 2003 (and later accidentally meme'd a friend into gifting em to me on steam) because making custom battle systems by wrangling pictures around sounds like the absolute asinine shit that caters to me specifically. despite it being completely not worth it for anyone normal outside of making your rpg maker game seem "professional" which i dont think anyone cares about except for people who don't play rpg maker games at all

i have godot on my hard drive, don't worry. i just have to make some time to learn its intricacies and maybe some basic low poly sculpting, or whatever is the easiest in terms of model making. i will not lie i was incredibly inspired by this one in progress, open source, ff tactics clone i found on itch while searching for a tactics ogre style isometric strategy rpg template. its low poly rocks spoke to me directly

sorry for sperging, i just wanted to share an extremely dumb fact abt me that i think is cosmically funny

-----------------------------------------------------

for the audience at home, i'll learn ruby for rgss1 (xp) and 3 (vx asexual) when i feel like it, vanilla vx sounds useless outside of cute runtime package portraits and maybe studying user made plugins and shit. javascript for mv and mz... i guess when i can purchase em at a less shitty price instead of just using my pirated copies (my brothers in christ, mz and mv are 78 smackers in euro. fuck off)

Hey, who wrote "Will-O-The Wisp"? I found songs from a bunch of very old albums reissued in 2009, but none from anything (not even compilations or retrospectives) which came out that year.

As in, he did make the awful sound effect, or he didn't make the awful sound effect - some intern did - and Tommy took credit for it regardless?

If you stitched all the legacy levels together into an unbroken string of homing attacks and automated ring getting sequences, you could have one decently-sized level that would probably be more fun than everything else in the game combined, and half the fun of any Adventure stage counting 06 as Adventure 3
