I wonder how differently that fight would have gone if Zeta powered itself with Nintendo 64s instead.

It would've ran at an unsteady 10-25 FPS and force Eggman to declare bankruptcy thanks to the high price of its software.

After four stages short enough to beat in 30-60 seconds without much effort, suddenly a long stage you have a pretty good chance of breaching the time limit on if you don't play well

It's like they suddenly remembered "OH SHIT OUR GIMMICK" and overcorrected hard

But it probably could've survived a few gunshots, unlike those Dreamcasts!

And so Gamma's quest for blood and the death of the only family he knows continues on, soon it will be Eggman's head upon his mantelpiece

Fun Sonic Facts!

Gamma's theme has only one lyric.

"It's my pleasure. Ready to die."

Somehow only the second saddest robo-death in the series. And by a large margin, too.

Huh, so the only way to unlock Big is through Sonic's story. No other character's like that, except for Tails, simply because he's the second character you unlock

Gamma's story was really good. I'm legitimately surprised this came from the Sonic franchise, crammed in next to a bunch of otherwise very Sonic-like stories. And to think this was the one they just threw in because kids love robots and shooting the guns.

Tails runs into Big briefly in his story, which is enough to unlock him. I wouldn't be surprised if Knuckles' sighting of Gamma unlocked him in a similar way.

I definitely agree that Gamma's story is great. I won't bother elaborating though, since Netosmar123 in the Youtube comments basically explained how I feel several times better than I could. Instead, since raocow asked what the ratio of cutscene to gameplay was, I decided to spend my time on that.

In total, not including the text scrolls at the start of each video after the first and the credits, raocow spent approximately 22:10 watching cutscenes, 14:35 playing levels/bosses, and 14:10 wandering around the hub. That's about 43.5 percent of the time watching cutscenes, 28.6 percent playing levels/bosses, and 27.8 percent in the hub. Ignoring the time in the hub, raocow was right when he said he watched a lot more than he played.

Can we talk about the lengths Robotnik apparently went through to make sure the animals he "abused" and "made into robots" escaped unharmed when the robots explode?

If I walked away from a car accident, I wouldn't thank the driver for not chasing after me to run me over a second time.

If your robots will be deployed in dangerous circumstances, it makes sense to ensure their power sources will remain re-harvestable in the likely event of such robots' destruction.

The animals are literally the source of power? Robotnik must be a genius...

Hiring an established voice actor to do Big's voice is even more baffling with the context that they hired a literal child to voice Tails.

This is way more triggering for ichthyophobia than i'd have expected from a 90s polygon game, so i'm probably just going to listen to Big's story radio style, but i did appreciate getting to see the world-building that established that you exit Twinkle Park by taking an elevator into the sewers before cutting the visuals.
