i dunno if feeding yoshi there would've done anything, but it being a block-bumping engine over mario-only blocks made it pretty obvious that it was for block-bumping something and re-seeing the block bump setup for the yellow koopa connected the dots right then and there
like i didn't know block-bumping resets the timer for koopas, but since it seemed obvious to me that the block-bump engine was there for a reason then it just seemed like a reasonable guess. but then again i play a lot of games where stunning an already stunned enemy causes them to be freshly stunned, so

For what it's worth I was able to figure out the puzzle from watching the video a good amount before it was solved and I consider myself very bad at puzzle levels. All you needed to figure out is that you probably want a disco to bump that vine block at the end, and a free disco was given to you earlier. But it's too long of a distance to run before the koopa will hop out, so you need to refresh it somehow and... that must be what the contraption is for! I think raocow just got too distracted by the contraption and was trying to throw stuff at it to see what it could do, rather than figure out what needs to be done and see that it's a solution to the missing piece of the overall picture.

I solved the puzzle in the oasis in a different way. I didn't understand the hint, but since there was this weird sign and the mario-only-block there I somehow knew you want to get something in there. So I used a cape to thwack the mushroom at the start of the oasis into that pit and it also activated the door.

I personally loved Rubicon. It's so unorthodox, but it works so well? It's literally a level where you can't progress right outside of abusing the speed you get from sliding down slopes. And it's good? It shouldn't have been possible, yet it exists?

I love how it even teases you with a Moon at the start to show you what the gimmick is, which I think is a great idea- otherwise, clearly your first instinct might've been to go left, only realizing "no right" when you wanted to use it to dodge an enemy...and die instead. Rubicon was pretty neat, though I'll admit I thought when I was heading that way I was going the super postgame route or something, since yanno, crossing the Rubicon and all that, but nah, just the yellow switch. Speaking of, the yellow switch is more what I expected out of a Jolpe level than the forest level we saw already. Despite that it is far from my least favorite level from how far I've played personally, but sure still has some awkward moments.
Because Touhou OCs can in fact exist, sounds fake I know.
