Just understood the video naming convention and I've never felt so unified to a community...

Also finally caught up! Wow, raocow is making this game look like it is not as difficult as I would assume. But then, he is also playing with the most helpful three opening posts in the world.

de rol le actually gets on the raft to let you hit it easily. It reminds me more of the annoying fish boss from bomberman 64.

also raocow has a weird self imposed ruleset of not using projectils on a boss when he already used a dang gun on one of them already, it would have made that bahamut fight go much faster.(i think you can also throw a few shurikens as he's falling down from that breath attack to snag another hit in. )

Jojo references!

Why did it have to be Jojo references?

Ooohhhhh. Today was a good episode. I know why you can't warp to that Grail Point in the Twin Labyrinths, so I had a good laugh when raocow discovered he couldn't.

But speaking of the labyrinths, I thought you couldn't explore the majority of it until you solve the poison cloud section? Did that change in the remake?

Mulbruk is a completely new character to the remake, she was not in the original.

For the record, you didn't forget to read the tablet or anything like that. Everything is working as intended.

That hallway that has such a heavy weight tax in the Twin Labyrinths is just the worst to go through. Tons of traps, tons of weight tax... it's just not fun.

La-Mulana is starting to bare its fangs.

La-Mulana may have had the upper hand this time, but raocow still made important progress. Even if the Twin Labyrinths are doing their best to make him feel otherwise.

We saw the Inferno Cavern for a bit today, but it wasn't exactly the "star" of this video. The Twin Labyrinths music we've already heard. So instead, here's the music for the shops in the Surface, to celebrate the arrival of the MSX upgrade.

"BONGA WANGA" (theme for the Surface shops)

Is it just me? Or was raocow's memory really kicking in today? As he was

Searching for a way to reach the uppermost room in the Temple of Sun to get the Isis Pendant.

Or how he

Seemed to distinctly remember that Zu is very powerful.

At the same time he also dropped onto Neptune's elevator and didn't seem surprised in the slightest.

He's going to need those memories!

He still can't access a lot of it. What he can do from the back side is very limited, although he can physically access most rooms in that part of the labyrinth. The poison cloud section is the front side portion iirc.

Oh man this is the first episode where raocow really got La-Mulana'd. It certainly won't be the last.

And he met Dio. That miniboss was a pain for me to beat, especially since

I never did anything about his ability to stop time.

Watching raocow painfully trek to the tablet knowing he wouldn't be able to warp back was wonderful.

This episode also taught him an important lesson: stockpile weights!
Also, there are shops on the right side of the village too, don't forget those poor villagers of commerce!

That was totally a siren like you initially thought, raocow. Sirens have wings.

Hey rao, go and attempt to buy the 2nd PC from that lady, but then cancel your purchase midway through.

Also, a quote I was reminded about in the comments:
Deceased Crab wrote:“La-Mulana is not forgiving. La-Mulana is not your friend. La-Mulana stole your bike when you were eight.”

When he will get the halberd?

Also yeah, the game's difficulty got steeper for raocow. I was also surprised that the Twin Labrynth's Save Point doesn't let you warp back.

That puzzle that said paraphrased "The fools created an impossible puzzle, but after all this time it can now be solved" is referencing the room's design in Classic. Like it says, back then it used to be impossible but you could easily jump to the door anyways so it didn't matter. Now you have to solve it; even if you could make it to the door there's an invisible wall until solved.

Man, the Twin Labs pit of despair. Everyone falls into the pit. Looking forward to you falling in again.

I was giggling a bit when you were going to that Twin Labs grail point and straight up laughed when you warped out.

Oh man he's finally onto the "B-side", as he calls it.

That was actually a lot of progress today. Graveyard, Endless Corridor, Temple of the Moon, pendant, fairies, cape, two softwares... way to go!
(He says the cape is fashionable now, but he ain't seen nothing yet!)

What a turnabout from yesterday's despair. Avoiding the Labyrinths was a good call.

Finding Isis's Pendant was probably the perfect puzzle for raocow to have an errant memory of the solution. Primarily because

the biggest clue for solving it - the map for the Temple of the Sun - is in that treasure chest he can no longer access

.

Lots of options for music today, but first let's focus on the area I skipped yesterday: the Inferno Cavern! This track always felt to me like music from an Ys game. They love themselves some lava areas too, after all.

"Inferno" (theme for the Inferno Cavern)

Yeah I'm also very happy he managed to have a memory of that because I wasn't sure how else he'd have found it. IIRC that room isn't even in the original game and was added for the remake?

Congratulations raocow, you just doubled the size of the game!
I remember the first time finding a way into the Backside realm in a different manner. I was hoping rao would have stumbled into it by accident long ago.

But yeah, we've reached the area containing the music on rao's top 20 lists of favorites:
Giant's Cry
Original:

Remake:

I asked rao in a PM over a year ago asking him which version he liked more. He replied he was thinking of the original when he made the list, but also liked the remixed one as well after giving it a listen.
So raocow... now that you've had a chance to listen for yourself, which version do you prefer now?
