Now that we've heard it, the Tower of the Goddess music is another one I prefer the SSCCversion of, high-pitched screeching and all.

Out of all of the Mother's children, the Gaint's left the largest footprint in La-Mulana. There is a total of 6 Fields that are dedicated to them, or they had direct influence on. The 2nd children also grab a lot of the game's lore, with barely anything said about the other children.

The game does talk a little more about one of the other children, but it still pales in comparison to the Giants.

So is it necessary to always have the Xelpudmail thing active or is it possible to just deactivate it and reactivate it later and get like a flood of emails?
Does Xelpud get angery if you turn it off and go to his tent to talk to him?

I legitimately have no idea but it might be a fun experiment! Also it means raocow could maybe use other software since combinations are a thing

i just checked, and if you turn off xelpud mailer and turn it back on way later after having already done a bunch of stuff, you will immediately get a mail notification and have a mailbox full of all the messages you would've gotten if you'd had it on the whole time. i don't think there's any dialog with xelpud related to having xelpud mailer disabled, but i could be wrong.

The Tower of the Goddess truly knows how to make an impression; unique amongst all the fields we've seen so far, both graphically and, I'd argue, musically. A distinctly "alien" vibe plus a "things are getting even MORE serious" feel: that's what the intrepid Chosen One discovers in this tower designed to pierce the sky.

Being used to the SSCC music or the remake's music, it's always weird hearing the SC88 versions of the music. It does give a good idea where some of the structure of the remake's music came from compared to the original, though. Definitely interesting to listen to because of that.
Because Touhou OCs can in fact exist, sounds fake I know.

I can't change my username but I go by Vali/Claire now (aka call me Vali or Claire at your leisure ^^).

I never update this currently playing section anymore, it's probably an RPG or something.

I don't know how you're supposed to figure it out, and I'd like to know, but can we save that explanation until raocow does?

@Alice: Hmm, I guess you could make an argument like that. But remember the the Gate of Time replaces the Maze of Gallious tribute area, making the connection weaker.

So funny thing about that dropped pillar in the Shrine. The original solution was that time stop ability, which you haven't found yet.
The developers actually showcased that change in an April Fools video they released, while the remake was still in development. It had a whole bunch of things that seemed... off. Like the wrong animations and behaviors of enemies, Lemeza's daughter (La-Mulana 2 protagonist) making an early cameo, and multiple Lemeza's on screen in the Twin Labyrinths.

Imagine everyones surprise when they saw the Xelpud thing is actually in the final game.
Here's the video in question, but those sensitive to spoilers should know that it shows parts of Fields raocow hasn't seen yet, including the music for one of them.

Not the explanation, just a reply:

I think I know where the explanation comes from, but yeah that'll be interesting to see how he figures it out. It's one of the biggest leaps in logic and really badly signposted.

Admittedly I don't know the reasoning any longer and instead just know what to do, so I'll be interested in hearing why it's not so bad when the time comes.

What exactly did that "noticed in editing" pedestal do? Was it just the moving block in the pipe area?

I also find the logic in this part of the game pretty fuzzy, including having to ask for help with the water when I was streaming it.

That block was already moving in raocow's video yesterday (before he put a weight on that pedestal today).

So I dug out some issues of Nintendo Power from my closet, and the August 2010 issue had a preview of La-Mulana. I think this was the first time I had heard of the game. I made scans if anyone is interested. I don't think NP will mind they went defunct seven years ago.

That's how I found out about La-Mulana too, and a similar earlier article is how I found out about Cave Story. Both these games seemed amazing to me, looking at them like that. And they were!
Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

To those asking,
The clue for that is

right next to the dias that raocow missed in the first video of Goddess. That clue is not that big a leap in logic. I think it's easy to overlook at first, (I sure did for awhile) but applying it to what you know about the game up to this point is incredibly reasonable.
