Yeah, that last jump is actually quite tough. Another tip raocow! If you triple jump and dive just after the last jump you'll cover a bunch more distance than if you were to do it later in the jump. But yeah, I don't blame you for thinking that long jump would've been impossible.

Oh! And remember to Hold A while you're in the air to make Mario fall just that little bit slower, makes you able to cover that extra bit of distance.

(although I don't know if you've been doing that or not, but yeah)

So red coins are really easy to get. 100 coins aren't that bad if you ignore floating platforms section. I died dozen of times there. Also in my opinion here is the hardest minigame unlock. I mean 2 rainbow coins are above Lava Lotus. It's really easy to get burned while collecting them. Just like raocow showcased. Also it's really annoying that rainbow coins can only be collected once per visit in the level. Because it's impossible to get them the first time, because you don't know where they are, you are forced to retry the whole level. That's annoying.

One more star and Course 10 done. That means that next time will be second Bowser level. And this is a thing. I really wonder if this level force raocow to use savestates.

Here's a tip for more coins! Big goombas split into three when you jump on them normally, but if you groundpound them they'll turn into a blue coin, which is worth 5. (EDIT: They won't. Disregard this comment.)
Also yeah, I can't remember the exact details of the star the pink bob-omb, but i remember it being quite tough; just getting into the pipe was a pain, so be cautious raocow!

Big Goombas don't normally split into three, so they're a custom enemy

Oh yeah, my mistake. My knowledge of how the original works and this one got mixed up. Tried it out myself and yeah, they don't give you a blue coin. What a strange thing to alter.

I had a little problem with finding passphrase star. But different than raocow. It's just hard for me to recognize letters: K looks like R or E, M like N. It's not very well done. On the other hand it's probably the easiest star to get in Course 10. As for passphrase - seriously, raocow, you have problems with that part? It was mentioned few times during other stars, you even watched the boss during thinking about password! If you still don't know check the names of all stars in Course 10. Sigh, seriously, why do you have a problems on these kind of easy stuff?

Above the Clouds 3 is for me the hardest star in the game mostly because it's speedrun nature. When I played this level first time I used a ton of savestates and even then I was forced to retry this level many times when I noticed that I was just too slow.

if it were me at about the 4th or 5th coin i would've started ignoring the first few coins so i could try to get the rest in a less panic-y environment & then put together the full run later

Yeah this place could use a few tune-ups to be more forgiving

imo: remove the firebars and give a few more clouds to encourage the player to use 'em

This level.

This was, without doubt, the hardest star in the game for me. It took me five and a half hours across three days of attempting it, which is probably a sign I should have given in and used savestates at some point but I'm stubborn. ^^;

I could have done that in 3-5 lives.

-I think you could have made the first platform with a long jump. Or you could have used the taller back of the boat.
-One feature of the Long Jump I forgot about was holding the Z button throughout. This will snap Mario in place when he lands.

Please practise this on camera, with and without holding the Z button

At times I was wondering if Kaze had playtested this level, but I don't actually think the overall design is that bad assuming a high entry level of skill - however, little things like the edges of the boat, the post on the island, the shapes of the islands... they're all very pretty and all absolutely obnoxious to clip into it, get caught on, or get distracted by because there's no clear sense of silhouettes, and there's no clean right-angle ledges to grab giving no leeway whatsoever. These designs would be fine if the engine were made for it, but this game was made for the engine, and the two just don't fit together as cleanly as they should given the technical expertise on display elsewhere.

This is a stance I can agree with. Fundamentally, the level works and just with small tweaks it could be way more accessible and/or less prone to have the player caught up in the smaller details <:
