Welcome back to your desk, raocow! looks like your desk overdid its warmup though

wow good job on that desk level... that one red coin ontop of the scissor climb took me dozens of tries, and you managed to get it done on the 2nd try. I don't recall having that much trouble with the lower sections of the desk though but maybe that's because I had to redo the level so many times that I learned to do those parts perfectly and forgot what it was like on the first few attempts.

That level looks like the exact sort of level I wouldn't dignify by wasting my time with it. SM64 romhackers really need to learn to stop trying to make levels that aren't well-suited to the engine.

The desk level took me soooo many tries but I found it really fun nonetheless.

I see that the paper on the "desk" has a long list of math problems, and the desk has a working calculator. Might entering all of those math problems into the calculator unlock something?

apparently, or so I was told, the list is the list of coins in all the stages, and if you put the total the calculator gives you some coins

You can type 8008 on the calculator to trigger a bowser laugh

Or was it 800813 or 318008

Either way the joke is "boob"/"boobie"

I guess that's a neat(?) Easter egg

(Or is it 80085? I really can't remember, i just know there's a calculator easter egg)

First star in Course 7 is (for me) the hardest star to get. There are 2 problems I have. First the ghost can not activate. It happened to me few times. Now that I think about it it may be a problem with seeing him and immediately changing Mario's view. I think this may make him freeze. Basically that's what happened during yours second time, raocow (you turn Mario away from mirror for a second). After this happened to me, staring at ghost even for few minutes doesn't help. I checked walkthrough to check if I'm doing something wrong. But no, I was doing correct thing. I have no idea how you unfroze him. I just exit the course. That's really frustrating thing.

Second thing is - camera isn't stuck on mirror. That's really annoying, because if I want to get coin I'm losing enemies from sight which often was lethal.

Craft a Star I'm usually combine with 100 Coin Star mostly because this star force me to explore the whole course. As for boulders I'm pretty sure you were supposed to jump over them. I never found secret ghost and I also had problems with camera when entering mine.

If you think this level is dark, just play his Mario's Mansion hack. It actually has rooms that get pitch dark, and for no good reason.
But otherwise, I dig this level.

I mean, yes for normal people like us who haven't played 999999999 hours of SM64 it's a pretty absurd task to ask of the player, but I think this game and most romhacks are targeted towards pretty advanced players who... Somehow unlocked a superhuman ability to play Mario 64 like it has a good engine. I don't know how, but going off of the speedruns of I've seen, they have managed to pull that off, and they probably wouldn't have much issue with these levels.

Kaze does in fact tend to focus his rom hacks towards more experience players, so why people keep suggesting for raocow to play them when he struggles to move the camera is beyond me

I disagree, every problem raocow has had serious trouble with in this hack has resulted from the game not working properly, not because it's "aimed at an advanced audience". It's a game filled with ideas that work in theory but not in practice with no attempt made to fix them. Look at the boo fight, it was obviously meant to be a gimmick where you watch the mirror while you fight, but when you move at all the camera immediately starts moving away from the mirror, making it impossible to actually play as the author intended. Yeah, somebody with a lot of skill might be able to find ways to deal with these moments, but that's clearly not the intention either.

That's fair, I'm not saying there aren't issues with this game,
I'm just saying that raocow's inexperience with the SM64 engine makes it harder for him than other people

The Haunted Church is the reason why I don't combine 100 Coin Star with it. For the very first wall jump segment, it's really tough. I think the first wall jump can be easier done with triple jump instead side flip.

The second star, on the other hand, is the easiest star in the game. It's the first time I see someone struggling with it.
