Hell yes, I've been looking forward to Iris 1 and Iris 2 the most of any part of this game, since they're easily my favorite segments. Iris 2 in particular is wonderful combination of beautiful, clever, and evil from start to finish and may be my favorite level in any Mega Man game ever. I hope it didn't give you too many issues, raoguy!

Mikey 4's Game Over screen was indeed a reference to Ninja Gaiden as Voltgloss guessed! Not gonna repost Iris 1's screen since that'd be silly.

You were right with your guess on the weakness for this one. It is the ice weapon.

Yep, I enjoyed the original ideas here in Iris 1 and am looking forward to Iris 2 tomorrow as well. Definitely my favorite two levels in the game. Wish more of the game was this way.

I personally found the timing to be wonky for landing hits on Bospider. Like how raocow's first attempt with the ice weapon (which IS the thing's weakness) just bounced off. Maybe a good 25% of my attacks that I thought were going to land simply failed to register in the same way. I didn't encounter this issue with any of the other bosses and still don't understand what I was doing wrong. (It doesn't appear to be "you have to jump a little" like raocow thought; I was able to hurt the thing with ground-level shots. Most of the time.)

Bospider's hitbox being fucky and annoying is just true to the original

What? I've never had issues with that. It seemed like in this game you had to jump to hit it, that was not true in MMX.

Let me rephrase: Bospider's hitbox has the annoying tendency to interact with the fully powered charge shot to only result in one damage taken instead of the full four.

This is why Freudenstachel is better against the Webmaster Spider than Seelegewehr. Aside from being the weakness, the ice needles are a constant stream with little gaps in between shots, and the stream waves a bit vertically. This makes it easier for at least one needle to hit the boss at the correct spot.

So close to finding the boss's weakness. Which was Rain Flush. Defeats it in 4 hits instead of 10 charged shots.

There's an achievement for defeating this boss without getting hit, which is quite a challenge. There's very little horizontal space to help you dodge the last couple of dangerous pieces of each wave. Fortunately, the pattern never changes (yes, even when gravity flips).

Okay, I got kinda pissed off watching. More than the usual 'yell at the screen' variety, so apologies in advance.
raocow, you have a tendency to not explore all your available options, and today was emblematic of that. You gave such a half-hearted effort trying to find the weakness of the boss, you only used half of your weapons. What is wrong with you? That kind of playing leads to the over hand-holdiness from some of us, myself included. Gaah!

Again, I'm sorry for the angry tone, this has been a slow boil for a while, and it finally bubbled out today.

So is this boss called the Deviled Egg? Cause if not, it should be.

(spoilers for unrelated in-game achievements)

this is accurate (scroll down to the next-to-last achievement)

So the cool thing I found out when watching someone do that Deviled Egg fight is that if you go buster only and hit it with charge shots on every pass like you do but without having to pause the game, you'll win the fight right as the fortress boss song can loop. That sure feels intentional. The pattern also doesn't change whether you're grounded or on the ceiling, but the perspective shift will totally throw you off.

And as already said, that Rain Flush equivalent makes this fight a joke.

Apparently this boss is also referred to as Mold Devil. I guess it makes sense, as the rain will wash away the mold.

Coming up next is the part I am very curious how you dealt with, as the remainder of the game is probably the hardest part, as it should be.

Looooooooooooove this level. It's so good and fun in every facet.

Iris 1's Game Over screen is a reference to Dolucky no Kusayakiu, some sort of furry baseball game for the Super Famicom. Today's is pretty obvious, and the image wasn't edited at all in the localizarion, so I'll just stop speaking here and get back to FGO.

Yep, this is my favourite level in the game.
The Iris stages were the most memorable ones for me, for obvious reasons. (hint: it's because i had to replay them a lot).

Closed Garden is such an amazing boss theme

I wish I knew how to find this composer, but I looked it up and Vampire Revolution gets you, nothing. Vampire Revolution composer, nothing. If I google Closed Garden Vampire Revolution, I just get Rosenkreuzstilette, and not even many results for it. If anyone else knew, I'd really appreciate it.

Maybe this page could help?

It feels good when you succeed in dodging the full pattern of Deviled Egg, but there's not a lot of room in the middle. If you get hit once, it's best to just get behind the fading part of the boss to skip the rest of the pattern than to try dodging the rest of it.

I "like" that they fixed the "problem" of the player being able to say "fuck it" after getting hit once and going behind the devil in X5. They just let his giant hitbox linger during the entire attack, but don't worry! They put an outline around it, so it "makes sense" that you'd get hurt by thin air :toaster:

Don't forget that the outline does significantly more damage than any other thing in the Shadow Devil fight, enough to kill naked X in two hits.

I didn't know they changed their name to Unlimited Hellest, so that helps! Unfortunately, when I went to their website...

Hmm, no password shown at the end. Here it is in case it's needed:
Image
I feel like some of the captioned translations are either mixed up or not translated more literally (see 3:37).

Here's the weakness chain summarized (the given boss is weak to the weapon from the previous boss):

Liebea -> Luste -> Zorne -> Schwer-Muta -> Trauare -> Grolla -> Sichte -> Freudia -> Liebea

Not only that, for most of the refight bosses, their own respective weapons are quite effective against them. The most notable case is Luste, who like Metal Man, can be defeated with just two hits from her weapon. Also, if you use Die geplante Zukunft against Sichte, it negates her timestop effect.

Iris Machine I just spammed tanks. The first form is pretty simple once you understand it, but the second form is just a mess. The annoying thing is that it's hard to hit the red core with jumping from the floor, so you may want to rely on that awkward platform to reach it. (Apparently there are other spots you can hit, though.) The boss is actually easier with

Grolla since her charged attack can reliably hit the core with a simple jump from the floor

.

The weakness is actually the bombs, but good luck getting enough hits with it before you run out (especially if you used Zornesbombe during the refights). I instead used Lustatem to hit the core.

Re: [Rosenkreuzstilette] „Es ist Boss-Zeit, Herr Typ!“

If you charge the Lustatem, it defeats Luste in a single hit.

Iris Machine is very strange. You can kind of walk under her and take a breather to line patterns up. The weaknesses are the same as in Megaman 2, Metal Blade for part 1 and Crash Bomber for part 2. Hitting her with the Zornesbombe is kind of jank, though. The best way is to kick it as it's about to detonate and hit somewhere near the middle of the machine with the vertical blast. I usually just buster the fight because it's more controllable that way.

I don't think you noticed it, but you actually managed to hit Iris Machine 2 with a charge shot without using the platform. It's very difficult to do it consistently, but it dramatically eases the difficulty in dodging as you have one less element to worry about, and can even safely walk under her to lure the Blitztrahl runes away for a while, as long as you don't accidentally hit the platform with a stray shot.

The final stage is up next. There isn't much for me to say here.

I am not really a religious person, but for the theme of this game, may Jesus be with you. All six of him.
