I don't think what the grub dad did is a bad thing raocow, pretty sure he's using his own body as a cocoon so the grubs can metamorphise.

This first GPZ fight does NOT bode well for the other ones. But I do hope he'll do several of them...

Oh yeah also raocow if you want to know some Bretta stuff you missed by getting her so late :

Basically she obsesses over you, has a picture of you in her house as well as a plushie of you she presumably made, but as soon as Zote comes back she turns her obsession over to him.

For those interested in DLC, Zote's dream re-fight here was introduced in the first one. Interestingly,

you can fight him more times. The next two times, he'l add a new Zoteling he can summon. And, following that, he deals more damage (one extra mask per hit for each fight beyond the third). He also gains a bit more health after the first three fights. He only gives you Essence for the first fight. Additionally, he'll gain new adjectives each round. Upon beating him four times, Bretta will leave (and she gets new Dream Nail dialogue prior to that point, though it is surprisingly obnoxious to get her and not Zote with it). Upon beating him ten times, the statue becomes gold, and you can no longer fight him this way.

For those keeping track at home,

that's two out of six dream re-fights down - one of the three standard ones and one of the three DLC ones, interestingly enough.

I knew we'd see Grey Prince Zote today. Also I see you figured out the Descending Dark invincibility frames.

Also I'm surprised you put Gathering Swarm back on after that fight when you've got all that Grubfather money. Especially if you're getting into end game and DLC stuff, Steady Body is an incredibly good charm for one notch and combos well with Quick Slash.

Makes me happy to see Descending Dark used so much in this video. It's a really good spell! The invincibility frames are super useful.

Every spell in this game, smartly, has something to set it apart aside from just the direction it goes in.

Spirit has infinite range, dark has iframes, and wraiths has the highest potential damage.

An interesting thing I didn't notice until I read about it on the Hollow Knight wiki is that, as the first spell you get is obtained from the Snail Shaman, all of your other spells (except Abyss Shriek) are found on the corpses of other snail people throughout the world. If you go back to Snail Shaman, he tells you that they were his relatives.

Between the snails and Unn the slug, I like to think that the gastropods were an older civilization that lived in that area before the arthropods of Hallownest came.

As incompetent as Zote appears, he has apparently managed to live to a pretty advanced age while constantly doing incredibly reckless things in an incredibly dangerous setting, so maybe there is some truth to the Grey Prince dream.

Honestly it's a good thing he went the "wrong" way, because he might not have encountered Failed Champion and seen the Seer's last words otherwise.

It's kind of funny how these past few episodes have just been piling on the sad deaths.

nah he went the wrong way after that whole ordeal
i don't think it really matters anymore anyways unless he ends up getting every charm and goes back to get salubra's blessing
and i dunno if he's going to get every charm at this point. there's only like 4 left & i could tell you where they all are at this point but i doubt raocow is going to randomly stumble into any of the remaining ones now

I feel this is a good time to remind everyone that Grimm is believed to be a bloodsucking species of moth, and his journal entry has dialogue from the Seer.

Dreams and nightmares among the moths, I love all the subtle little connections.

I feel like the next objective for raocow should be to get the final charms and buy out the last shop.

I think the last anything requiring money in this game left is Salubra's Blessing. So feel free to bank it up.

yeah, there was a merchant introduced with the grimm troupe that would've taken their fair share of money to get everything from but you completely missed them so

with how raocow plays getting the melody was probably for the best though

when you're finished with the game, I reccomend you check out this guy, mossbag's channel if you're interested in the lore. His vids explain a lot about the world of Hollow Knight, and are pretty funny on top of that.
