It's non-indicative of the rest of the game.

After Ribbon (no, not that one) joins up and levels up, everything else levels up in a different way.

Just a heads up raocow, the Halloween DLC is free and adds things you might want to do. :P Also could I request you toggle the difficulty indicator off in the settings? It looks ugly just having 'Normal' plastered in the top left and my plasma will thank you when I eventually binge the whole series again later on.

I agree with prior sentiments that upping the difficulty to Hard may be more suitable for your skill level. My first playthrough was on Hard/Alternative and I had a great time with it - I don't know enough about the differences between Standard/Alternative to really urge you in either direction on that, though.

Regarding the DLC, here's some brief info on the significant additions it brings - the only info contained in the spoilers is in reference to when you'll be able to access the DLC.

Cicini's Halloween! (free) -

This adds an area that I believe you can access as soon as you find the area connected to it (fairly latish into the game) but you won't be able to explore fully until later. It also adds a boss fight.

Is the order a DLC? ($7.99)

This adds an entire 2 new chapters with several new bosses. These areas/bosses can't be accessed until after beating the base game's postgame. I recall the base game's last chapter being called the "final chapter" or something so I was a bit confused about this when I initially purchased the DLC. Specifically, you can access the DLC after you defeat

warning: boss spoiler

Irisu.

One more thing I'd like to mention that I don't think would really be considered a spoiler because the game never really explains it to you is the wall kick - it's considered one of multiple "secret moves". Keep it in mind as you move forward and feel free to use it to access areas you couldn't access otherwise with your current items - the game encourages non-linearity to the point where there's an actual achievement for sequence breaking. There's also one very significant thing that using the wall kick will get you (item spoilers):

a proper wall kick skill that can be upgraded to give you multiple kicks.

"Is the order a DLC?" is kind of a must have in my eyes, since it does add story. I guess you could call it an expansion?

There is also the artbook(that probably has more content than any other artbook

since it also includes beta content/unfinished stuff

) but that one isn't really as important, just a little something to have fun with.

From what I remember, I think the hitbox is her breasts? I'm not 100% sure though.

Man I've cleared the main game and am plodding along in the postgame and the idea that some find Normal Alternative "underwhelming" is mildly frightening :V

That's right, it's one of the hidden techs like the quick drop and the reverse wall jump. There's a few more of those, but most are minor attack ones iirc - the major one is RWJ because it lets you sequence break.

I think the big one is RWJ into Quick Drop lets you Wall Kick, creating itemless infinite wall jumps.

Oh Ribbon. You certainly have a character design.

Nope, it only gives you one additional Wall Kick.

Also, you might wanna use LT for Ribbon, since using shots and melee simultaneously is a must in this game.

Of all the villainous groups to choose from, going with „Masochistic Furries“ seems kinda weird, but hey what do I know

They're Kemonomimi's not Furries, but yeah..., I've seen that kind of random humour in a fair amount of animes so... I wouldn't say it's commonplace, but it's a japan thing. :P

Also a post that makes references to at least four different bunnygirl series was created by someone with a Ringo avatar, I'm going to have to bail out of this thread because I'm now worried about ODing

Honestly I completely understand the feeling of not wanting to miss something, no matter how bad the writing is
But you can probably skim through it without feeling obligated to comment on it, I don't think many people will mind

More importantly though, you might want to change your controls so that you can easily use both hammer and magic at the same time, it makes a pretty big difference.

raocow, follow the tags and your dreams. There's a reason people were telling you to skip all the cutscenes! Cut off the gross tough rind and bite into the juicy insides of gameplay.

The yellow shot is the best! Once I got it, I just held the shoot button for the rest of the entire game to attack forever.
