Well, raocow damn near breezed through this game! It seems that a decade of playing hellish Mario platformers with a side of Touhou bullet hell is an extremely usefull skillset for playing Cuphead.

I'm glad you enjoyed this game, raocow.

Doing a regular Expert run probably doesn't change much compared to Normal, but doing a full S-rank and P-rank run really changes how you approach the game, requires mastering it and might be worth doing were you to revisit the game at some point

So... DLC was announced for this game at E3. Do you think you might eventually go back to it?

So how is the 3rd playable character different. Is she different at all. Is 3-player support being added?

Ms. Chalice plays quite a bit differently than Cuphead and Mugman do.

-the dodge roll is a completely new move, the brothers don't have that at all, and needed the smoke dash to have their dash be invuln

-Speaking of dashes, Chalice's dash is her parry instead! The boys could parry stuff y pressing jump in midair, but chalice can't don that because instead she has a...

-Double jump! I think her normal jump is shorter than the brothers' jump, but double jump is higher? Don't quote me on that

-She also has different supers than the boys do, give them a look over sometime!

-Finally, she can't equip charms, since playing as Chalice is itself a charm. And as a cute little detail, if both players have the astral cookie equipped, both will attempt to eat it, but one will drop it. It appears to choose which one at random.

EDIT: oh also she has four health.

Yep! While the dlc is perfectly playable with cup and mug, it was designed for Chalice to strut her stuff. You really feel it when fighting the knight in the king's leap; they have a harder time hitting and dodging him.

Something worth noting about king's leap- if you see the ladder on the overworld you can do more of the fights. Sometimes it just kinda kicks you back down arbitrarily, I have no idea how it decides you've done enough.

You should also look for a porkrind's emporium on this island to spend your hard earned cash, some of the new weapons are very fun!

EDIT: I figured I'd mention this about the knight you fought last episode. That faunt he does is something he does when you're too far away from him.

google en passant

&: That's... Weird. We swear you used to only be able to do one of the Chess battles at a time, and would have to re-find the arena (It moves around on the overworld, and is marked by that ladder appearing.) if you wanted to fight another one? Was that something they changed in a patch, or did we woefully misinterpret how the King's Leap actually works from RoahmMythil's LP of this game?

this has nothing to do with anything, why does the knight piece from the side look more like a fucked up cartoon bull terrier to us?

I think it has to do with the number of attempts? Roahm reset a lot because he was trying to get no-damage clears and wasn't sure if he'd be able to refight them. raocow got most of them in fewer tries and the King's dialogue suggests that's a factor.

Just guessing, though.

A couple things about stuff you've seen today:

Crackshot is better homing because the shot does more damage before it breaks off to chase a target, and the chasing shot is still better than homing. The EX move, the little turret thing, can be parried before it ends to send it at the attacker for more damage. You can also parry the pink spear during chalice's super to extend its duration slightly.

Converge is really good for bigger enemies, but as you can see it falters a bit on smaller, moving targets. However, if you lock yourself in place you can narrow the spread of it a bit.

Finally, you can actually do a gauntlet of the king's leap bosses if you want, one after another! You're healed after each fight, but losing kicks you back to the start. If you die on the Queen, back to the pawns! It's only good for an achievement, it doesn't give you that last coin. I couldn't begin to tell you where you're missing a coin, but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in the main game.
