Re: Aquaria: The Thread (Brought to you today in part by Captain Planet and the Planeteers)
I agree with raocow that switching forms without singing is lame because it bypasses one of this game's main mechanics. Even if it's harder to sing, that's a difficulty setting I'd gladly take.
Using WASD to move is a separate issue, and I'd probably go the other way with that one. Not being able to shoot in one direction while move in the other seems like a frustration I wouldn't accept.
Neither of these are raocow's classic tunnel vision, they're legit choices. (I mean, yeah I always wish he'd experiment more. in this game, it's the food. As a player I would already have shoved all those ingredients into each other randomly looking for useful recipes, but for him it's mostly a menu for rolls and poultices.)

I wonder what that pierogi he got does. It's a little green though... but as long as there is no sauerkraut (bleh), I'd eat it.

It took a while, but this week's videos finally got me into the game.

raocow, why do you continue to swim right past saves when it's already come to bite you multiple times in this lp alone? I'd think that having to repeat stuff so much wouldn't be all that enjoyable.

raocow, you didn't touch the screaming rock. It might have been a treasure.

Did raocow not miss a bunch of leaves he could've easily taken?

Man, you are really getting slaughtered by those enemies. If only you had some way to fight back, and eliminate the danger.

I'm actually legitimately surprised he didn't die after swimming right past the save with very low health.
Re: Aquaria: The Thread (Brought to you today in part by Captain Planet and the Planeteers)
So, uh, does the person that made this game think that islands are just big floating rock glaciers in the ocean?
Re: Aquaria: The Thread (Brought to you today in part by Captain Planet and the Planeteers)
It's a fantasy world. Just go with it.
I've been meaning to say this for a while, but it is rather interesting, the concept of Li (as a game mechanic). Most metroidvanias are usually just solo adventures, maybe with an occasional temporary companion. This game gives you a permanent one halfway through the game! (I mean you could leave him behind at his base camp, or Naija's home until he's needed, but would you?)
Imagine if you're playing a Metroid game, and they gave Samus a permanent travelling companion partway through(and no, the baby Metroid doesn't count, since it was at the tail end of the adventure). It'd be weird, right?
As for today's boss fight... maybe the spike balls could have been picked up? Or you counteract the boss's whirlwind with your own, but that seems like a stretch.

One other weird thing I noticed. raocow, very early in the game, got a health upgrade, but hasn't gotten one since. I'm actually kinda surprised. Rao hasn't explored everything, but I'm surprised with all the optional stuff he has found, one of them wasn't another Health+ (I don't even remember what it looks like anymore).
Since raocow now has the Light form, I'd recommend now is the time for a thorough search of everywhere he's been. Hopefully now he'll be able more health.

Usually beast form's thrust (vs regular swim) will counteract such strong current but I don't personally remember if it works in that fight. Plant form's trees are usually good at blocking shots if you plant them in the right positions and rao is literally not using the shield at all when it is very good at both protecting you AND doing some damage with its shot reflection.

At least you learned how powerful increasing your shots are. Don't forget you can charge them even further!

This was probably the first boss where not using the quick change will bite.
And honestly, if you're as sick as you sound you should probably just take a day off.

So it seems the little buddy healed you bit by bit. I was a bit hard to notice, since you were also healing from eating the piranhas (who I say is the better pet, so far). But it became obvious once you were going through the currents, afterward.
He seemed to disappear when you transformed into a fish, but I'm not sure if that was the cause, or a coincidence.
Since it's not too far off, I'd recommend going back to where you found him. This may be the only time you'll ever use him again.
Looks like the two health upgrades you missed were in the Kelp Forest. And it looks like you could have gotten them pretty early on, if you bothered to explore properly. Unfortunately, I think you were in you 'gun straight in a direction, and don't look back' mode. Reminds me of Symphony of the Night, when you when straight passed the first three saves rooms, and you never knew.
That's a bad tendency of yours, in a metroidvania.
I find it odd that 2 Health ups were in the same general corner of the world. It looks like there is only 2, maybe 3 left. I wonder where else they could be. Maybe you missed one in that ruined city? Though I don't think you missed anything left.
Anyone know what the whale song is for?
