That's what I've been thinking too, what about the GB games I to V? We have seen some of the original characters from those games in the fanworks.

Hmm... I might actually have better success with the SCD version.

Try adding "windows 95" to your search query.

Isn't that just a mishmesh of stages and bosses from other games? Admittedly, I've never played it, so I have no idea. :P

Here's some info on it:

Also, EWJ2 PSX is running/working (was looking at the Saturn version, but Saturn emulation isn't great ATM/not worth it)

The GB games are absolutely fantastic, and IV and V I would without any exaggeration say are better than NES 1-6. I and II are each their unique flavors of bad, but they're INTERESTING bad and that's the best kind of bad. III is simply hard. But good, too!

No I mean I have a pretty good SCD emulator so that might be my preferred version since that way I don't have to fiddle around with setting up a dedicated VM for it.

You shouldn't need a dedicated VM, it runs in Windows 10, if you follow that guide.

even the installer? Because most of your installers from that era were 16-bit...

There's actually no installer at all, it can run right off the CD (on period hardware/OS; modern computers you need to replace WAIL32.dll in the ASSETS folder). The only reason you'd need a a VM or something like PCem or 86Box is if you're annoyed of that music glitch where the track doesn't loop correctly and you have to pause/unpause the game to fix it.

So, it turns out, there is a bit of a difference between the Saturn and the PS1 version, and after a bit of work, I did get the Saturn version working in an emulator. Unfortunately, RetroArch's Mednafen Saturn core doesn't support savestates, but that shouldn't matter because of passwords.

For those curious, here's a side-by-side comparison of the Saturn and PS1 versions (with Bonus Genesis/SNES/DOS/GBA comparision @ 1:02:32)

as far as I know EWJ2 doesn't use 'real' passwords, it's more like a weird collectable-based save system that stopped once you turned the game off ?

I looked it up, apparently there are 3 collectibles in each level. collect all three to get the password to the next level.

However, it appears savestate support was just added to mednafen, by the time you get to EWJ2, that may be ported to the libretro core too. Mednafen is command-line only, and I really don't want anyone suffering to configure that.

Glad that's going to be a C-side. I can't stand Sonic.

I'd be shocked if it went past 1, 2, 3 (either Complete or & Knuckles), and Mania.

Like half of the 3D ones have PC versions (SA1, SA2, Heroes*, Generations, Lost World), so he could play at least some of them if he really wanted to and was prepared for a certain amount of jank (and just how much more time-consuming it is to "complete" the 3D games). There's also at least one Generations mod for Unleashed's Day stages.

*Heroes' PC version has never gotten a digital release/remaster to my knowledge, so that would require some tracking down.

Huh, I actually have the PC version of Sonic 2 (part of a collection of other Sega games), Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic CD, and Sonic R.

I wonder if I should send them...

Unless there's a difference, Generations is also on PC. Both Sonic Boom games aren't even list on Citra's Game Compatibility List.

No Idea on PPSSPP.

Also, note to raocow, you own the Genesis Sonic games on Steam (though I'd probably still recommend the PC S3K for variety)
