That probably could've been worded better there, but I do understand what you're saying... at least I think I do.
COMING UP NEXT now w/ BUCKET.TXT
Re: COMING UP NEXT
The problem with that notion is that raocow has only ever played what he (and/or the fans/patrons) wants. Not what "draw[s] people's attention". It getting voted in on Patreon or suggested in the grab-bag doesn't inherently mean it's going to have a particularly active thread on here (see: literally half your B-side list), and that's not a problem or something raocow needs to go out of his way to remedy as you're suggesting - I know you like to overanalyze the hell out of forum activity and who posts where and whatnot but this really, truly does not warrant attention at all.

Re: COMING UP NEXT
The people who voted on those games to be played have their own chatroom so I would theorize that they are probably being talked about more there (because that's The Real raocow Community now I guess)
Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

As someone who barely watches A sides any more and mostly watches B and C sides this is amusing to me
But nah play good games regardless of how much attention they'd bring
Though Celeste would probably do both just fine cough cough

Re: COMING UP NEXT
Aww now I feel bad, though, I don't really know myself if I mean that for real or not. Maybe it's just a paranoia thing
Re: COMING UP NEXT
I don't really see the point seeing as the b-side has basically universally had far less attention than the Mario a-sides for as long as I can remember. (With a few exceptions for things such as AUS and Super Cat Planet.)
Unfortunately that sort of thing seems to be what people unconsciously do with shit like Discord in quite a lot of communities in my experience. I don't really get the point myself. A forum serves a totally different purpose to a chatroom but others apparently seem to disagree.
Edit: (And that sort of sentiment sucks for people like me. I despise group chats even with friends, let alone random people I barely know. So it makes it more difficult to actually take part in the community for anyone who isn't an extrovert.)
Re: COMING UP NEXT
I should also mention, speaking from the position of a long-time lurker on this particular forum, that when I do have something to comment on, I usually comment on the YouTube video itself since that's where I'm most confident that all of the general audience (and sometimes even raocow himself) can see it, whereas if I post it on the talkhaus forum then people who don't go to the forum won't see it.
Anyway, I think the current strategy of just having very different genres of games for each letter-side is pretty neat, both from a common sense "appealing to different crowds" perspective and a metric-heavy "statistics and engagement" perspective.

Re: COMING UP NEXT
I got bored of SMW and its hacks ages ago. I almost exclusively watch b side (and c side). My problem is that I'm always lagging behind. I have many things I want to post but I don't because raocow is typically ahead by a week or so and the conversation opportunity is lost.

Re: COMING UP NEXT
raocow's channel is niche by its very nature. I don't think that doing things that would gain more attention is necessarily something that falls in line with raocow's vision of success, nor would it really give traction or synergy to any goals in mind. I feel as though if something more poppular or more inherently attractive gets voted, that would be for reasons that fall besides that factor.

Re: COMING UP NEXT
I think I phrased the last sentence in a way that some of you guys are reading too much into it. It was just supposed to be a light remark in response to the observation rather than a "serious" recommendation. My post there was just meant to be a rough statistical assessment, some analysis of it, and then a personal conclusion - the first two were really meant to be the main point of the post. My observation was that typically an active LP thread would get an average of third to half a page per video (the really popular ones get over two pages on average at times), and I was wondering why so many recent B-sides were not meeting that.
I'm aware that it's really up to raocow, upon consultation with his patrons and fans, to play whatever. I just thought that the current A-side list in the OP is twice as long as the now really short B-side list, with Cuphead being the only widely known game, so I was wondering when it's getting updated and if there's something particularly interesting to expect. I don't know if patapon had a new poll for that yet.
Some other responses:

I consider myself as pretty introverted but I have no problem chatting in the Discord servers I joined, especially since they're built from a core of people that I already know from elsewhere, like talkhaus forums. So I do suggest giving Discord a chance.
It actually works similarly in both directions - I don't think people read the comments just because they watch the video. I sometimes do (and comment there), but not very often, and sometimes it's an environment I want to avoid depending the nature of the video.Leylite wrote: ↑5 years ago I should also mention, speaking from the position of a long-time lurker on this particular forum, that when I do have something to comment on, I usually comment on the YouTube video itself since that's where I'm most confident that all of the general audience (and sometimes even raocow himself) can see it, whereas if I post it on the talkhaus forum then people who don't go to the forum won't see it.
Re: COMING UP NEXT
You're overlooking an important part of what I said. I despise group chats period. Even if they're with close friends, let alone people I know but don't interact with much. And while not all introverts are like this (case in point: you it seems) it's not at all uncommon either. If I join a group chat I just end up never saying anything at all unless directly asked something.

My only issue is that it can hard to keep up with. It's largely why I'm not a fan of JUMP 1/2 doing most of their work over Discord; I can't keep up with what's going on compared to message boards

Re: COMING UP NEXT
tbh I sort of assumed this was the case when I learned that the MegaMan playlist was behind a Discord paywall (unless that's one giant collective in-joke?)
But I'm also an old fogey that doesn't like the idea that, in general, forums are going the way of the dinosaur and anon imageboards and Discord are the future, so

Re: COMING UP NEXT
On the note of the JUMP 1/2 Discord server, how is that place structured, exactly?
With A2XT Episode 2 we started on the forums, moved to... I think the codehaus skype group? It's been so long, I don't even remember if we had an A2XT skype group... and then to its own channel in the codehaus server. In retrospect we really should've given the game its own server; simply being on Discord does facilitate faster discussion and that helps, but a project of Ep. 2's scope really needs a full set of dedicated chats for graphics, music, dialogue, programming, level reviews, etc.
I'd still like to see Ep. 3 get one when that time comes, honestly -- a server that takes full advantage of Discord's features to make it an efficient and accessible environment for not just the devs but folks who want to take part in the discussions as well as those who'd prefer to lurk and just follow the game's progress quietly.

Delightful Adventure Enhanced is out now!

There's an official ASMT Discord server! Check it out to follow and/or contribute to A2XT Episode 2's development! thread, invite link
(Entry requires verification, either with a connected Youtube/Twitter/Twitch/etc account or manually by the server staff.)
Itch.io (albums and eventually games), Youtube (dofur pass and I guess other videos)

Honestly, I wouldn't switch from using the forums to going all Discord unless you're ok with people missing and not being able to participate in discussions. Things end up going by way too fast in the Jump 1/2 discord that I can't pop in and see what's going on from time to time. I know there's zero chance of me doing anything if all that stuff were moved simply to Discord.
Re: COMING UP NEXT
Suggestion that's been suggested before but I'm bringing up again since the patapon suggestion period is on and it's relevant: It'd be nice if this time around you played the first place winners of the patapon vote first and then worked your way down the list. My rationale is that if a game gets first, then it signals that people are eager for you to play it, and having it at the back of a list ten deep just ends up with those people having to wait more than a year for you to play it, and in the intervening time the hype is bound to die off (see Aquaria). That and I dont want to have to wait a year for raocow to play Celeste :(

my plan this time is to keep the reverse order... except for first place, which I would play first. This way getting in 1st is actually a prize, while keeping the tension for the rest

Re: COMING UP NEXT
If you're talking about Celeste, I can assure you the level of hype in this case is very much well deserved. It's not a case of something like Undertale where most of the hype comes from obsessive tumblr fanart type people. The guy that made this game is an indie platformer veteran that also made the game that originally inspired Super Meat Boy, and it definitely shows. The level themes and difficulty balance in this game are so, so masterfully designed.
