I can't wait for raoguy to see Zwei as the next game on the list, get reminded by the German that the RKS games exist, go "oh yeah, I never played the b-side versions", and immediately jump back to playing the alternate modes for those two games first

for me it's really the lack of cohesion (i.e. thematic/difficulty), and i've never really got the whole hubs thing except for maybe alternate costumes or lives toggles. like, it'd be neat if you assigned people to make cohesive content for the hub (i.e. having each of the wily's castle stages being a relay made by the people on each tier, or the teams having one person from each tier) but that's herding cats at BEST.
i think the best way is vldc10 where it's just a map and you get to pick whatever you want to play, and it's made explicitly clear that the "judge level finale" isn't gonna try to be anything mind-blowing. i agree with whoever in the magmml thread said that there shouldn't really be a concept of "remaking" a hub except for ease-of-life and glitch fixes because you shouldn't HAVE a hub with content that needs remaking.

though i find it hilarious that the final level in tower of biased 2 ("this level has touhou music") sounds like it has final level music but it's only stage 3 from great fairy wars. that's zun for you

that's the exact reaction i had when i saw luste really. for some reason the patriarchy really wants to fuck children, japan's societal landscape sadly got hit with that side of it especially bad, not to blame the japanese ofc, just people who thought "things" like boku no pico, kodomo no jikan and the underage units in housamo were worthy of anything other than treating everyone involved with em with chemical castration and heavy therapy.

it's about the power imbalance. you'll notice that both women trapped in marriages and scholars/apprentices were forced to do/receive stuff from the aristocracy and that those aristocrats got a sick "alpha" feeling from knowing their status let them do this and that the other person would get punished for complaining. that's why red pillers today don't want women's liberation because they DON'T want an equal sexual partner and why so many catholic priests only did male-male sexual activities to those they were hierarchically and age-ly superior to. it's like the dominance is more important than the body for some creepers.

pretty sure that's why most fanservice is about ingenues instead of self-respecting adult women. otaku know that only teenagers would fall for their shit, so the fanservice only focuses on younger women that the otaku feel they could dominate in real life. and we don't get male fanservice because society has punished female expressions of dominance, such as "alpha"-ing, lechery, etc. and this also is why we don't have a lot of female Master Roshi types portrayed.

I think it'd be better if he started with another Ys game since you won't get some of what Origin is talking about without having beaten Ys I/II first but I definitely agree that Ys should be on his to-play list. It's far more a raocow series than Zwei is at the very least.

For raocow, the Ys games are largely Zelda-esque but more action focused rather than puzzle focused. I'm a bit biased since I'm a big fan of the series but personally I think they're all good games.

Having played the first two Ys games recently I can easily imagine raocow gelling with the main gameplay of those two in particular. Bump combat is basically the platonic ideal of raocow's playstyle.

Technically it's a separate sub-series (as it is Dragon Slayer VIII, TLoX2 is The Last of Dragon Slayer, and Xanadu and Xanadu Scenario II are Dragon Slayer II), but Faxanadu in itself is barely related to Xanadu in the first place other than being inspired by it so.
