Now presenting: bucket.txt!
this is a list of slightly over 600 games that I'm interested in playing. These include old games from my past I want to re-experience and share, old games I missed, newer games that piqued my interest, games I was suggested here, games I was suggested by friends, on patreon, anything and everything. For a while I've been plucking from his list whenever I've been looking for a game to play, or organising votes on patreon, things like that. I think it could be interesting to have it visible to all.

The list is not really organised and although I've made it public it's mostly designed for me, so some titles might be slightly incorrect or just allusion to things. sometimes one entry can represent a whole series.

I plink away at the version on my computer from time to time, usually adding games but sometimes removing some. So while this list and the one I actually use might not be always exactly the same I'll try to keep it updated whenever major changes happen.

**
note: any of these games may be pushed aside in the case of the release of a major project, or really just because I feel like it.

note² -- some games may get delayed for technology reasons

gonna try to keep this updated as things progress, clear up, and games get played.

Oh darn I was hoping Ori would be immediately next, the patreon games have been going on forever as is but bleh

well now that you pointed it out it's no fun.

and Parama, I thought I'd skip right next to Ori too but there has been so many requests just waiting in the normal request thread, I think it makes sense to alternate.

I wasn't aware it was released!

Though yeah I'll let it breath a bit

You should replace the A-side "?" spot with a Kaizo 64 hack

So is Question Mark undecided or is it going to be a random pull?

Re: COMING UP NEXT

undecided

c-side isn't listed because it's just the one big game that is split between individual releases

I thought a list like this would go in the request grab-grab, instead of it's own topic. But watevs.

Nothing wrong with an indication of what's next. Just figured you never did this because plans change sometimes!

I think you'd enjoy Ori, raocow. It's basically pure platforming fun times, something you love.

Also, I'm still waiting for you to do the SMB3 GBA e-Reader stages. Seemed like it interested you when I suggested it months ago, but nothing. :P

I get a lot of requests or shown new things frequently, sometimes it boils down to timing.

I just went ahead and updated the A-List to include every request I have pending, so I don't have an excuse now.

What systems, may I ask? Mainly asking since there are multiple different platforms for both (obviously SNES and GEN, but there were DOS ports of both, plus EWJ1 Special Edition for SCD and W95 and SAT/PS1 ports of EWJ2)

snes is the versions I played, which will not come to any surprise. I'm not checking in case of spoilers (weirdly enough) but is there a difference in terms of extra levels or stuff like that

Yes, from what I researched the past hour (not including the terrible GBA versions):

EWJ1:

GEN - Baseline version
SNES - Better Graphics, missing "Intestinal Distress" level, different aspect ratio. Apparently inferior to GEN (everyone says it sucks)?
SCD - More Expanded Levels, Redbook Audio, adds an extra level ("Big Bruty"), considered the best version.
W95 - Same as the Sega CD version, but slightly better Graphics, and has has an actual save system (apparently). Apparently requires a bit of finagling to get working on modern versions of Windows
DOS - Best graphics, and has Redbook audio, but doesn't include the extra content of the SCD/Win95 versions, and also doesn't include the "Intestinal Distress" level like SNES. Available for purchase on GOG and Steam

EWJ2:

GEN - Baseline Version
SNES - Better graphics, missing some SFX? Seems to compare better then EWJ1
DOS - Again Superior graphics, Redbook Audio, Missing "Lorenzo's Soil" level for some reason. Available for purchase on GOG and Steam
PS1/Saturn - Re-done graphics that are arguably better, CD-quality Audio, new level intro and ending screens, for some reason

the "ISO 9000" level uses the music from the Granny bonus level in "Anything but Tangerines" instead of the "Lorenzo's Soil" music, as the GEN/SNES

Sounds like the versions to play are the Win95 version for EWJ1, and PS1/Saturn for EWJ2. Willing to help get those working for you.

man, I was hoping to be a pretty easy fun thing to have run, haha.
But if you're willing to help me out, maybe we can get it going. We'll see.

Well, after spending most of the Afternoon, I did eventually get the Win95 version Earthworm Jim: Special Edition to work.

Unfortunately, getting it to work involved buring a BIN/CUE file to a CD (DVd didn't work), as the music is stored in Redbook, and all the mounting software I tried refused to mount to cue file (it could mount the bin file, then no music). Additionally, it didn't detect my controller, so you'll probably need Joy2Key.

As for EWJ2 on PS1, I have PS1 Emulation working in Retroarch, and it loaded fine.

Did you try WinCDEmu? That one usually works well.

Also, open up the CUE file in Notepad and just verify that it has the correct route to the BIN. If the image is improperly made, it'll use an absolute path to the BIN file instead of a relative one, which once you move the pair of files that'll break everything if it's absolute pathed.

Yep, used that. Mounted the BIN fine, but refused to mount the CUE (and that's no use since the music is stored in Redbook, and mounting the BIN only gives you the data). I used that BIN/CUE to burn it to a CD fine, so it's not a CUE issue.
