Would rao use the Unworked Designs patch for the proper Japanese difficulty? Vic and co.'s at times obnoxious translation is still there for better or for worse, raocow might find it obnoxious as well at its most "Vic Ireland", if his feelings on XSEED's work on Zwei!! are any indication. pholtos did play it with the patch on Yelsey's server and had fun.

I haven't played it yet but a lot of Working Designs published games suffer from increased difficulty on western releases which is a huge pain. They stopped this practice around... Arc the Lad I wanna say, a few years before they went under? Dragon Force, American!Shining Wisdom and Epica Stella/Vanguard Bandits might not have much difficulty boosts either.

The patch is available here if it's necessary. It's a quality ARPG either way.

Personally I usually play most of the Working Designs games in Japanese: Silhouette Mirage Saturn (fucked up balance in English, had the English script next to me tho), Popful Mail, partly Vay (kept getting distracted), Lunar 1 Saturn (for the sake of "more Saturn"), Lunar 2 Saturn (see above); or with the difficulty patches: Lunar 1/2 CD, Lunar 1 PSX, my final attempt at Vay.

Arc the Lad 1-3, I vary between Japanese and English depending on the phase of the moon ig, I've replayed Arc 1 so many times since it's roughly 7 hours long, and I want to start adding Arc 2 to my rotation despite it being like 30-40 hours, so I have to vary it up.

It almost winning makes me glad RCV exists. Not because it didn't win, but because it had a better chance of winning than it would have in the "Let's strategically vote for ties because we're grown adults who never mentally left high school" previous method of voting

That is valid but the "grown adults who never left high school" remark felt oddly spiteful?

anyway this means that baldy mario should win by default now. old rules of raocow putting the most voted one in the back are making a horrible comeback now, there will be No Survivors

This is probably not the right place to ask this, but it's something I've been curious about for a little while.
Does anyone know around about how many of the royal-picked games were already in the bucket list when they came up? Because, on the off-chance my name gets lotteried up, I don't want to feel too embarrassed about my incredibly vanilla choices :geek:

Definitely don't worry about that. The bucket list is huge, and to completely avoid overlapping it, you'd almost have to be specifically targeting games that raocow hasn't heard of or wouldn't normally want to LP. The former is rare because people recommend stuff to raocow all the time, and the latter isn't a great idea.

people have indeed recommended games that are in the bucket
more than that, people have recommended games that are in the bucket and then I opted to pick something that wasn't!

that the game is in the bucket or not has very little bearing on the choice I make. don't worry about it.

I have replaced the pastebin for the bucket with a google.doc. this way, whenever I share a new public version, I don't have to reupload it or change the link or anything it's just going to be that one permanent thing

I have no idea why I haven't done this sooner either

a correction for the doc: drod was first released in 1996 with the webfoot-published version, but the primary version of the game that caravel games manages first dropped in 2004. as far as we're aware, nobody's actually GOT webfoot drod emulated either (at least, nobody on caravel forums) and nobody seems particularly interested in doing so since architect's edition is basically just. it but better. and then the current version of the game has just, The Entirety Of The Original Hold Ported To The Current Version (with king dugan's dungeon 2.0)

tl;dr the version you're playing in the way future is gonna be from 2004, probably and hopefully, as that's the best one
