Heh, you actually bought one of the most useful items. The quick charge is great, especially when combined with the Laser Shot or Arrow Shot. (I like to buy both, because I feel like they both have their uses in certain situations, but if I had to pick one, I'd say Arrow.)

Man, the power of the evil is so much more impressive then good. Can the concept of good manifest into a form of energy powerful enough to fuel a robot? No? Thought so.

Duo: 2 of 2! You're done there!

In the PS1 version of the game, the ladder to Cut Man doesn't exist. The bolt's just sitting there on the floor behind the six enemies. I would also recommend the Exit Unit when you get the chance to save you from going through levels in full again when you're doing your backtracking. Both the Laser and Arrow are amazing, but one is practically game breaking in your favor when combined with the High Speed Charge you just bought.

Is this the game where quick charge is an almost instant charge to level 2? Or was that X5?

Yeah, quick charge+arrow buster is completely busted (heh) and renders boss weapons useless for attacking enemies.

High Speed Charge + Laser Shot for stages, High Speed Charge + Arrow Shot for bosses. Pretty much don't need anything else, although...

* With the way raocow plays, the Shooting Part (and, to a lesser extent, the Power Shield and Super Recover) might be useful.
* The Energy Saver's never a bad choice.
* The Step Booster is hilarious to watch and should be purchased on those grounds alone.

the only reason you revisit stages is to get bolts, so buying exit just defeats the point since you cant ever refund it.

This is why I think the Saturn version was meant to be the official version of the game. The bolt just being there means they likely cut out the added screen.

Aqua Man: 2 of 4 - You got all you could on your first pass here.

Yeah, bosses do have two to four lines for their intros in this game. Aqua Man has three. "Finally, it's my turn. I'm Aqua Man!" and "I've been waiting for you!" are his other two opening lines. You got the best quote. That outdoor section right at the opening is one of my favorite backgrounds in the whole game along with the city in Frost Man's stage. I've always liked the detailed art like that over the single-color backgrounds the NES games have.

That miniboss is pretty rough since he swims a bit randomly on the waterfall. Losing or getting hit by it a bunch is not uncommon. Aqua Man's worst attack is that Water Cannon since it'll go wherever it wants. You can jump it if it's heading straight at you near the wall at least. If you get hit by his water wave, he literally shows you his backside to mock you. Yes, it happened in the video at around 7:45. Shame the weapon you win is easily the worst in the game. It doesn't do anything for bolts, and it's only really effective on fire-based enemies, but Ice Wave does a better job at that.

Is the 90s songs naming gimmick still going on? If "ew the toilet" or whatever that title is is a song, I haven't heard of it

For a while, I thought he said "You can call me handsome, m'kay?" since that word was a thing in the late 90s, but I'll just chalk it up to being a bad read. He's a handsome guy.

Getting more Astro Crush is one of the main benefits to buying the Energy Saver. Of course, it's handy to have more of pretty much everything - most of the weapons in this game are pretty good.

Astro Man: 3 of 4 - So close.

Okay. When Astro Man does the Astro Crush, the safe spot is wherever he disappears last. As for the second maze, it's literally a loop around on the two buttons. Falling down instead of climbing back up the ladder and finishing the loop is a red herring. I don't like this stage. It's got a boring theme, and it's got a lot of those annoying blocks and enemies that pop out of pits on top of that. Next.

And he says "You're great!" when you defeat him.
