in the discordhaus rao already posted a pretty comprehensive list of what he plans to play for it, just fyi, no need to spend all the time compiling unless you have something super obscure not already covered

i've honestly never played a video game in my life

I have super enjoyed all of All the Mega Mens as a series near and dear to my heart. Thanks for make, raocow. Whenever I need some Youtube "comfort food" going forward, I know I can put this playlist on random shuffle and enjoy whatever comes up.

The next big project? Is a series of games with which I have very little experience. Sort of the polar opposite in that regard for me, from Mega Man. So I'm looking forward to this too... for entirely different reasons.

Sooooo...

No power rankings?

No complete list of what's best to worst?

No knowing whether or not Mega Man (Game Gear) was worse than Mega Man 3 (DOS)?

Man, what a wild ride. Since I also took on Wily with just the buster here in my playthrough, I actually had to look up the weaknesses here! Wily Machine 11 is weak to Acid Barrier (Power Gear contact damage) and Chain Blast (four normal bomb explosion). The Wily Capsule phase is also weakest to Acid Barrier contact damage and also Scramble Thunder. Yeah, going with the regular buster seems to be the best bet.

Mega Man X4 is the best game in the whole franchise to me, and after watching it, I'd say Mega Man III DOS was definitely the worst one.

Congrats on All The Megas. I kinda fell through on watching the vids, but having been someone who also did Most of the Sonics as a kid and is kinda doing All the Squaresofts (and maybe All the Falcoms, need to improve my Japanese for a bunch of em tho), I had a hunch you'd be able to do it. You're a stubborn little idiot just like me after all lol

As for Sonic I might just watch until Adventure 1 + the handhelds until Rush Adventure + Mania since that's my cutaway point for the series. Beyond that it just gets painful and I could never get into the 3D boost games. I won't miss 06 though, that's for sure. Good luck on getting a capture card for that.

Bean wrote: 5 years ago Mega Man X4 is the best game in the whole franchise to me
As someone who has MM&B as his favorite game I absolutely agree with this
X4 just feels very cathartic and a delight to play, I need to play that again

My least favorite outside of the DOS games is honestly X6, X7 is dull but I'd take dull over outright despising the player

Ashan wrote: 5 years ago Despite these similarities I can't say I've ever been much of a fan of the Sonic series. I've maintained for a while that the only people who really like Sonic are people that have nostalgia for it, cause even the classic games that people claim are good have such fundamental issues to me that I cannot enjoy them despite the fact that retro platformers are kinda my thing.
there is such a thing as "not enjoying a series yet respecting other people's opinions while simultaneously not implying everyone who likes it has nostalgia goggles glued to their dicks" just an fyi

This has definatley been a trip. I went into this knowing very little about Megaman, (MM10 is the only one I've played) and now I feel I know a bit too much. That said I want to play at least one of the Battle Network games.

Part of me beleives that "All the S..." is not in fact Sonic. raocow will be playing a videogame with superficial similarities to Sonic that happens to begin with an S. The confusion caused by this high level bamboozle will appease the chaos gods.

Okay, so actually THIS was the boss where I ignored weaknesses and just threw bouncing balls everywhere.

I mean, I'm pretty sure I did that for the one two nights ago too, but it was actually a weakness on that fight.

I really like this fight against Wily. The fight starts with some simple attacks, but jumping on the missiles and hitting Wily is harder than it might initially seem. Once you get him below half health though the difficulty ramps up with him adding those spiraling bullets to the mix. It took me a few tries but I did manage to beat this part of the fight with just the buster, though afterwards I used the Acid Barrier so I could quickly get to the second phase (and I just want to say that I appreciated the weapon energy refill outside the boss door).

The second phase of this fight has some interesting attacks, but my favourite part of the fight is when he activates his double gear. Looking back at it it's actually fairly simple, but dealing with it for the first time gave me quite the rush of excitement (I was trying to see if I could beat the fight without using any E-tanks, and I wound up winning with just a sliver of health left). While you can defeat him here by hitting him where he's exposed, another way, which is what I ended up doing, is to shoot the gears on his sides enough to destroy them, leaving Wily vulnerable and making him easier to dodge.

After beating the game you unlock two powerful parts in the shop. While they won't help you beat the game given that you have to beat the game to unlock them in the first place, they are fun to just mess around with. One is an item that lets you use the gear system infinitely, and the other gives your weapons infinite ammo. I don't know about anyone else, but I find it fun to run through the stages with a permanent time slow active, or with access to an endless barrage of powered up weapons.

Anyway, I guess it's time to acknowledge the fact that All the MegaMen is over. After seeing raocow play these games for so long it has become hard to imagine raocow not playing a Mega Man game every day, but here we are. This has been an enjoyable video series, and I had a lot of fun the times when I decided to play along. Maybe Capcom will make another Mega Man game (which I would love to see) and this series will continue. In the meantime though, I'm looking forward to "All the So-"!

Gross, next one is a pass for me. The only thing more overrated than Sonic is Final Fantasy 7 which is saying a lot since Final Fantasy 7 is basically the most overrated thing ever.

thank you for your valuable input

both sonic and mega man are wildly inconsistent series that changed a lot over the years & it should be fun times
though i'm curious if raocow is gonna play it "by zone" or "by act" for the games that follow that structure
i've honestly never played a video game in my life

"by act" would make for shorter videos and less workload per day, which would normally mean it gets my vote, but "by zone" would make for a more consistently-paced series since adventure has ambiguous "act" boundaries sometimes and most later games either have nothing like acts (adventure 2, shadow) or heavily separate the acts with hub worlds and menus (unleashed, colors)

this also depends on what games raocow intends to play.

This is probably the most ambitious LP project I've ever seen followed through to completion. I am in awe of raocow's sheer work ethic, what an amazing journey it's been.

I'm also going for zones tbh

I'm also voting for not repeating zones in the most likely inevitable Shadow LP (because that's a platformer)
Possibly varying characters between each Sonic Advance zone like the old SAdv1&2 LPs on LP Archive? i confused it for something else

My prediction for games in this series:
1991
Sonic 1 (16-bit)
Sonic 1 (8-bit)

1992
Sonic 2 (8-bit)
Sonic 2 (16-bit)

1993
Sonic CD
Sonic Chaos

1994
Sonic 3
Sonic & Knuckles
Sonic Triple Trouble

1995
Chaotix

1996
Sonic Blast

1998
Sonic Adventure

2000
Sonic Pocket Adventure

2001
Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic Advance

2002
Sonic Advance 2

2003
Sonic Heroes

2004
Sonic Advance 3

2005
Sonic Rush
Shadow the Hedgehog (no PC version! Emulator?)

2006
Sonic 06 (no PC version! Capture card?)

2007
Sonic Rush Adventure

2008
Sonic Unleashed (PS2/Wii) (no PC version! Emulator?)
Sonic Unleashed (PS3/360) (no PC version! Capture card?)

2010
Sonic 4 Episode 1
Sonic Colors (no PC version! Emulator?)
Sonic Colors (DS)

2011
Sonic Generations
Sonic Generations (3DS) (no Emulator! Capture card?)

2012
Sonic 4 Episode 2

2013
Sonic Lost World
Sonic Lost World (3DS) (no Emulator! Capture card?)

2017
Sonic Mania
Sonic Forces
Sonic Unleashed 360, Sonic 06 and the 3DS games will be problematic since they'll require recording from console so...

Okay, jokes aside, please don't feel constrained by a format for all the Sonics.

It simply won't work well, unlike Mega Man which is generally speaking quite uniform in level structure.
