For all my whining about this game, the Robot Master fights are fun as hell. I recall Block Man irritating me the most of the eight, but that may have been because I was feeling the pressure of having no lives or E-tanks left and I wasn't figuring out patterns fast enough to enjoy dodging them. Still, I can't wait to see raoguy's reaction to
the middle third of the fight
. My mind was absolutely blown even in all of its aggravated panic.

Anyone else feel like Mega Man's walking animations look kind of skatish? Or is it just me
Mega Man's running animation is like the ugliest part of the game to me. I remember when they first showed off the game and I was like "wow that running animation looks bad" but justified it thinking it was an early demo and would be improved by release. But it just wasn't!
And I don't know why either, cause there are plenty of animations in this game that look great to me. His warp into the level animation looks good, as well as all the robot masters that move around pretty gracefully. For some reason the one animation you'll probably see the most in the game just looks terrible.
Giant Monster made up of multiple tiny sections, red core, massive size...Block Man is ACTUALLY BLOCK DEVIL!
ROBOT MASTER FACTS! STOUT AND STURDY CONSTRUCTION ROBOT BLOCK MAN
"I'll drop you like a ton of bricks!"
Block Man (ブロックマン Burokkuman) is a Robot Master built by Nakaume Heavy Machinery as a small, stout robot to work on exterior constructions, being able to create blocks one after another.
When he is reprogrammed by Dr Wily, Block Man is vain, headstrong, thick as a brick, and has "an ego the size of a pyramid." In his usual programming, however, these flaws are much less apparent, though he still has a bit of a temper when his workers can't keep up with his boundless energy. He secretly dreams of building vast structures like those from the bygone age of pyramids and temples. He's friends with Impact Man, and the two are sometimes seen at an oil bar to share a drink.
In Superhero difficulty, Block Man will make fifteen turquoise blocks above Mega Man in three rows of five instead of four, and jump much faster. Block Man takes more damage before turning into his giant form, which attacks much faster, having much less time between each of his attacks. In the final phase of his battle, Block Man can leap between each side of the screen.
Pre-Battle Taunts:
"Solid job gettin' here."
"What are you doing here?!"
"Never thought you'd make it this far!"
"I'll drop you like a ton of bricks!"
"You're just another brick in the wall!"
"You're a few bricks short of a load!"
Activating Power Gear:
"Power Gear!"
"Why you..."
"Time to square things up!"
"I can't hold back anymore!"
"Get ready to crumble!"
"Your fate's carved in stone!"
"I’ll knock your block off!"
"You're not the only boosted bot on the block!"
"You can't chip me down to size!"
Rage Shouts (After his Giant Form has been destroyed):
"I don't think so!"
"I won't lose! I won't!"
"NO, NO, NO!"
Cries:
"Agh!"
"Gahhmmm..."
"How mortarfying!" (Last cry before transformation)
"AAH!" (When his giant form is destroyed)
Death Cries:
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!"
"YOU BLOCKHEAD!"
"DROPPED LIKE A HOT BRICK!"
"STONE COLD!"
Trivia
Block Man was the first Robot Master from Mega Man 11 revealed to the public. During development he was tentatively named Renga Man (レンガマン Rengaman, lit. "Brick Man").
Block Man's giant form is based on the Yellow Devil, having a similar pose from its appearance in Mega Man: The Power Battle, a red core as its weak point, and saying "bumo" after transforming in the Japanese version.
He is the only Robot Master that can be fought in the free demo released for Mega Man 11.
Block Man's weakness to Chain Blast is due to how stone structures are most easily demolished with explosives.
Block Man is one of four Robot Masters from Mega Man 11 who can be defeated before they get a chance to activate their Gear, the other three being Bounce Man, Blast Man, and Impact Man.
I had a lot of trouble with this guy's punching, I vaguely remember him using one of the attacks so close to the wall that it didn't seem possible to dodge.
I ended up using an E-Tank to beat him after struggling to beat any of the other stages. The stage itself is pretty easy, but that transformation is really tough. At least the final phase of the fight is simple enough.

Make levels from unused MAGL X names!
Blockman's level looks really great, both visually and how fun it looks (except maybe they could have held back on the amount of Gedlav-likes wheel enemies). Some of the earlier stages seemed to go on for a little too long, this one looks like it strikes a nice balance.
I wonder if we'll ever get any justification for why Zero doesn't come equipped with gear tech.
I like that the last robot master in the series is Ar-Mega-Don. Unfortunately MegaMan's copy ability is not quite at Boki's level, but even if you don't get to pilot this one, it's still nice to see old friends come to see you off.
Block Man's stage gave me a ton of trouble because of the one platforming bit, and Block Man's big form is super awkward to dodge. He's the only one I never managed to buster-only. If you've got a quick trigger finger with the bomb weapon, I think you can actually beat him before he turns big.

Wow, look at all that death Blockman inflicted on poor raocow. I was kind of expecting it, though. They present Blockman as if he's the first boss the player should take on, with his level and his basic form being easy enough, but that power gear transformation...needless to say, I wasn't able to power my way through it when I first got the game and ended up leaving with my tail between my legs to take on Blastman as my first boss instead. Blockman's rough, buddy. :(

I had difficulties with Block Man my first time too, which was in the demo. His attacks are kinda awkward to dodge even once you know how they work, but I think they're expecting you to use the time gear since you have a ton more time to react and position yourself.

I don't get it. What makes it look bad?
It just... looks bad? I don't know much about animation but I just think his running looks bad. He's kinda awkwardly bobbing his head forward and backward. And I think maybe it looks like he's hopping too much?
I don't know, ugliness is subjective and if you don't think it looks bad I can't convince you.
so just a head's up, I may play like a couple of one-shot videos of some of the more out there official megaman side-games after I'm officially done with 11. Note that it might not be like IMMEDIATELY after 11, I might take a break of a few days, but yeah, get hyped for things ?!

when would that leave c-side 2?
if it's sonic like i've gathered, then i REALLY want to know so that I can make the next megathread
c-side 2 is some time in the future. it could be the week after megaman, it could be two months later, it could be a year later. If you want, I can pm you a couple of days in advance so you can prep the thread
not that I'm confirming what it's gonna be or anything
