Re: Fly'N 'n' float'n
That's what happens when people vote for a game because it's pretty.
Re: Fly'N 'n' float'n
I suspect that the real challenge of the game is collecting all the things and beating the time trials.
Maybe raocow could actually give that a try for one level and see how much fun it turns out to be? Going for 100% for the entire game might be a bit overkill but it might be nice to 100% one single level just to see what the process would look like

Re: Fly'N 'n' float'n
there's literally no time trials. but yeah collecting is one of the focuses, it's just, not actually necessary at all
anyways raocow hasn't gotten any of the alternate powers yet, stuff should get more interesting when he does

Re: Fly'N up in quality
The bonus levels are definitely going to be "A thing." Maybe not to the extent of them being one level videos because most of them seem pretty short compared to the main levels, but they're extra stuff for a reason.

Re: Fly'N up in quality
this is maybe the worst bonus level of them all tbh. there's one or two i can think of that are notably stupid but in general the bonus levels are mostly interesting level design experiments that just don't fit in with the main game

Re: Fly'N for a bonus
This game does look cool when it's speed run. Big thanks to chibi-cow for showing that off.
Re: Fly'N for a bonus
Yeah, I'm getting a bit more hooked into this now. Just didn't say anything because there wasn't much to say originally.

Re: Fly'N through the labyrinth
Well, that was a nice little preview of colors and puzzle mechanics that will likely be tutorialised properly later!

Re: Fly'N through the labyrinth
oh yeah btw since i noticed it here, i prefer keyboard + mouse for this game almost exclusively because of the rocket powerup. good luck doing the tighter/faster movements with it you need to do later in the game with controller, i guess?

Re: Fly'N into battle
This boss was cool, and the post-boss was super cool. When I played this, I was worried all the bosses would be a similar amount of non effort. Well, not worried, because the game does have its challenge in places, but I like bosses!
This turns out to not be the case. In boss 2 at least the game is simply generous with checkpointing between phases. Which, given how long a phase has the potential to take is very welcome.
Re: Fly'N into battle
By the way, although I think the only ways to find them out are the Steam Store Page and the Steam Trading Cards, and probably also some official website off of Steam, the Buds do have names.
Fly'N is the blue singer.
Lyft is the green one that sticks to walls.
Ywok is the black bouncy one.
Nyls is the orange one with air dashes.
Also, the hair dryer guy is Dyer.
I wouldn't be surprised if everyone ignores the names because honestly, but I thought it would be a fun fact.

Re: Fly'N like a lettuce
I've been enjoying this game, but that maze bonus level really seemed to have some problems. If I were playing this, I think seeing that would more or less single-handedly kill any interest I might have in trying to collect everything in the levels.
Other than that, though, this game has a really nice flow and relaxed pace that goes well with the game's art and atmosphere. I'm glad raocow's playing it.

Re: Fly'N like a lettuce
Note that bonus levels don't count towards collection at all. It's impossible to collect all the pollen in that level anyways because you can't get to any of the ones in the invisible wallskitikami wrote: ↑6 years ago I've been enjoying this game, but that maze bonus level really seemed to have some problems. Coming up soonish (next few vids sometime) is easily my least favorite level of the game but I don't think raocow will have much trouble with it

Re: Fly'N all over the place
So for anyone who, like raocow, didn't catch the mechanism: the flowers had different colors and there were little colored marks near the passages. To gain access to a colored passage, you activated the flowers that made that color. For example, activate the red flower and the blue flower, and the purple passage opens up.

today: raocow spends the entire video being stumped by non-puzzles

Re: Fly'N like a lettuce
That definitely helps. It's actually kind of funny seeing 3000+ in the spore counter with the screen filled with them as long as it's clear you are not actually supposed to collect them (though that maze still looks kind of tedious to navigate).
That does kind of go back to raocow's observation that the bonus areas seem like developer testing rooms more than something that was designed to be played as part of the game. It's like they made a game with its own little universe and then stuck a bunch of random side content in the overworld as a diversion that has nothing to do with that. The bonus side room with the crew members fits that mould as well. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, and some of the bonus rooms seem more interesting than others, it's just a bit weird in terms of overall immersion and how the game presents itself.

Re: Fly'N up up and away
this is one of my favorite bonus levels tbh, it's a bit trial and error based sure but the segments aren't too long and the second half is mostly reactable anyways. it's a cool idea.
