I uh...

Am I the only one who knows you can race the fish? Like, you don't have to kill it? At least, I recall being able to just zip right by it, anyway.

Can't really fault him for getting his ass kicked by the Maverick Hunter, though. I don't think I've ever beaten any of them in a Buster Duel.

Those X-Hunters just don't mess around. Good thing they've been dealt with, even if they'll get away with Zero.
Bean wrote: I think you're talking about that one Sub Tank. Yeah, you can get it without the Bubble Splash shield, but you weren't meant to. There's a little slope under that item that you can jump off of. If you're going downhill, X gets more height off his jump. To double this unintentional goodness, the programmers forgot to take out an ability where X can skip across the surface of the water. This is also in X3.

Here you go in video form.
Huh. Never saw that before. The more you know!

As a kid, I thought that level was cool because you're taking on a giant tank and the background's going from day to night. As an adult, it's kind of boring, but the day/night change is still neat. Kind of my "just there" level of the game now.

Now X can scrub himself clean with the last Maverick's corpse! Just gotta rip out all those wires first...

Anyway, are we going to see a collection video before you storm the X-Hunter Base? Don't want to see the new and improved X-Hunters (and Violen) ruin you a second time, that's all.

One of the problems with me always starting with Wire Sponge is that I had no clue that the weather crystals could be affected by weapons. This is the first time I'm seeing that fog effect in action. Learning new things here!

In contrast to his strategic kinsman Sting Chameleon, Wire Sponge can afford real plants for his garden. Well, I'm sure the mechanical duplicates are probably much more expensive to start with, but you probably save a ton on upkeep. Ruffians constantly charging in to your house and breaking your weather control systems likely adds up over time.

And Wire Sponge does indeed look way more like a sea cucumber than an actual sponge. Though the vine-like wires and general plant motif of the level seem to instead suggest an actual cucumber. Though having his primary mode of attack be spewing his innards out of his anus may have perhaps been a wee bit graphic, not to mention making for a particularly awkward weapon for X himself, so doing for a more plant-like theme, even in defiance of the general animalistic gimmick for the Mavericks, may have indeed been the more prudent choice here.

Since you took the Boomerang Cutter to Flame Mammoth and Launch Octopus, I'd like to request you finish off Wire Sponge with the Sonic Slicer in the refights.

There were gonna give Violen a proper second form and have a fourth, female x-hunter, but they ran out of space.

As it turns out, you can kill the wall-closers before they fly up to do their job. If raocow got the buster upgrade he could do a charged-up Sonic Slicer to ruin its day.

Also, now I have the mental image of Violen playing a violin.

To be fair to you, Violen is one of the hardest bosses in the game in terms of how much damage that mace does. It tears you up like little else does and can hit you multiple times per pass if he does that bounce all out of the place version.

...I just realized today's video could be an issue. Eh, maybe you have this next dude's pattern down. Guess we'll find out tonight.

Yeah, Serges is the worst if you just use the buster. I think the thing that gets me about that stage is that it's the shortest in the game outside of the opening, but you have to wait for those dang lifts in the underwater part. Bah. I like the next one a lot more, even if the boss is... something.

Yeesh, the minute I checked the time left after his second loss to Serges, I just knew I had to skip to the end.

Let's hope that after the collection video Agile will go much more smoothly.

Funny how Serges goes from the most pitiful of the X-Hunters to the absolute worst. I didn't foresee quite that much death when I envisioned raocow's rematch with the old robot.

...who the hell makes old man robots, anyway? Yeesh.

Okay, for a minute I thought I was going to title this post "Re: Obscure "Mega Man X" Game Where pyro where are you"

First of all, Giga Crush pretty much kicks sand into fortress Serges's first form's face and calls it names. Secondly, if you thought that mid-air dash was broken, wait till you see what it does in X3 (provided you decide to do that, of course).

Overall, I think you're more than ready to get that sweet prize in Agile's fortress stage.

TIL you can air dash and Speed Burner in either order (I had always used the Speed Burner second because I thought it would count as your air dash if you used it first)

So raocow's usual thing is to play games he's never played before, but I gotta' say, having Informantcow in videos like these has been an oddly soothing change of pace. As such, I think it'd be really cool, dear cow of raos, if, in either of the two videos remaining, you showed off one of the charged Silk Shot rooms before you go to the final stage. There are at least three of them (one in Ostrich, one in Crab, one in Snail), but easily the most useful and practical one is in Ostrich's level in that room right before the giant bridge you have to shoot down to cross over into sandstorm territory. I'm assuming you know what it does already, but if you don't, I'm not gonna' spoil it.
