You skip the boots by inputting a special password that marks chill penguin as dead but doesn't have the dash boots. I don't know what the password is though.

Is it even possible to beat the Sigma stages without the dash? No jumps that require it?
There are a couple of jumps in the second fortress stage (namely the ones on either side of Storm Eagle's platform) that you can just barely make, but it is all possible without upgrades. It's a rather nice example of the dev team considering possibilities they technically allowed!

Gotta reiterate how much I like the boss rush in this game. Rather than the standard "boss room" they mix the reanimated bosses throughout the fortress. While it might be frustrating to deal with when you're low on health and don't know the boss weaknesses (the latter of which I have no idea how you'd do that if you weren't completely new to the game, they still break the mold for the MegaMan standard that makes it refreshing. Not until Shovel Knight did I see someone else attempt to mix it up like that.
Reason to get the arm upgrade before going to the Sigma stages: Charged Rolling Shield completely trivializes the enemies in that bit at the beginning where you have to climb all those tiny moving platforms.
i always thought the fire wave not working in water was a nice touch. the only other mega man game (i think) to have done that is megaman and bass, but rather than not making anything happen it just shoots a water pushing wave that is the water boss's weakness for some reason. also x's hadouken voice is cute
Also, you were having trouble dashing on Sting Chameleon's heart platform because of a quirk in the engine. If you're right next to a wall, turn around and immediately dash, your dash input gets eaten.
So, is the last episode going to be called "dominus telikós S" or will you pull one last fast one on us?
Anyway, that secret capsule is pretty tedious. It's not difficult to get like the one in X2, but revisiting the same area just before the boss chamber four times in a row is counter-intuitive. The reward looks pretty slick, though, and it's a shame we won't see Sigma getting blown down by a shockwave ball this LP.
Fun Fact: Penguins are actually highly flammable. They'd be used instead of firewood on treeless northern islands by ship captains to boil whale blubber up for oil. And for double the animal cruelty.
Voltgloss wrote: ↑3 years agoD.Rex's weakness was the Boomerang Cutter. Not that raocow had many shots of it left on his first attempt anyway.
Probably wouldn't have helped a huge amount anyways. raocow's issue with those orbs looks to stem from the fact that they they appear to actually track X a little bit. So when he stays up in the corner they actually come further up than if he'd stayed lower until they were fired and moved up.

It's more of an easter egg than something the player is supposed to find, though. X3's is pretty esoteric, as well. Gotta' say, though, I prefer X2's version, both as a weapon and the means to acquire it.
