this honestly seems super hype if this'd be what a2xt episode 2 would be like, especially the cutscenes!

Although Uncle Broadsword is pretty rad mechanically I must confess disappointment that he isn't actually a broadsword.

Also, wasn't it originally Uncle Greatsword?

the main thing i wanna see is uncle broadswoard in A2XT episode 2! like he seems super neat as a concept for a playable character and it's crazy we can kinda just create our own characters at this point

To paraphrase Hoeloe, Episode 2 has a bunch of content from 1.3 through early lunalua, but the gaps between that stuff will feature some pretty awesome tech. As for having Broadsword playable alongside the main five... we'll see. At the very least he does have a decently big role in the game's plot.

I'd also like to note that the method it uses for some of the animation and visual effects is rather crude, but I've recently been working on an API for simplifying more complex spritesheet-based animation and it's decently close to its' first public release. That one boss fight stuff I've been sharing in a handful of places lately uses this API for a few different things, so for folks who haven't seen any of that yet, here's another taste of things to come:

Sword attacks don't work on this guy at the moment for technical reasons. I'm making this fight as a potential addition for the Boss Coliseum sample episode that comes packaged with SMBX 2.0. He miiiight also be featured in any future standalone Broadsword-related stuff I do as a rival character to jolly ol' UB, but he won't be in A2X2.
