to be fair, I get where raocow was coming from
he just got the levitation power specifically being told it would get him past this
so his brain was just like "yep this one power is all I need"

I'm more disappointed he kept calling it a rock instead of rancid meat haha

It kinda annoyed me raocow didn't try using his new telepathy to throw objects against the lungfish. Instead, he just tried using it ON the boss over and over.

what, you expect raocow to remember something he was taught in a dedicated tutorial and then use it against a boss slightly later on? it's gotta at least be a critical gameplay element for every single room inbetween!

Although I'm not actually sure if that works, but it does seem logical that it would.

Somehow I totally forgot about the lakebed sequence and its autoscrolling shenanigans. Fascinating.

Back to praising the game:

What a neat sequence. If I ever made a game, I was gonna be sure to include a boss fight, with it happening from the boss's perspective. Or at least some sort of 2nd-person camera.

I'm so glad to see something like this has been done before.

And who would have predicted the first mind you enter after the 3 teachers was a fish monster? Where you are a kaiju? This game is awesome.

I wonder when the other kids minds get involved.

Now this is a classic example of why I find raocow so entertaining.

He takes almost half a video the other day to figure out that he could get a boat by talking to the old guy in the boathouse.

And today, he figures out a semi-tricky boss with not entirely obvious weaknesses in seconds. Both phases. As if they're the most obvious solutions in the world.

So yeah, typical raocow. Can't figure out the obvious until he's tried literally everything *else*, but figures out semi-obscure stuff nearly instantly. :P

Wouldn't have it any other way. Keep up the great work raocow.

Yeah I dunno if game structure/game length is a spoiler but I guess I'll err on the side of caution!

so raocow i guess don't open this spoiler if you don't want to know anything about game length

geez, act 2 already. with act 3 being so short, we're pretty much halfway done.

And today we have one of the best lines in the game.

"Lili, a deranged madman is building an army of psychic death tanks to take over the world! And we're the only ones who can stop him!"

"Oh. My. God! Let's make out!"

I'm a little surprised raocow recognized the monster as a lungfish. I didn't even know lungfish were a thing until I played this game.

The game called it a lungfish before he did, and he also balked at it being able to breathe air so he didn't seem to know what it was, either.

I guess Oleander wanting to keep Raz away from Sasha Nein makes a bit more sense now. Nein at the very least doesn't appear to be any less concerned about ethics/child safety than anyone else, but if Nein's brain tumbler can lead Raz to uncover his plot, I suppose that makes sense.

I could be mad at raocow for not being able to figure out some aspects of bosses or platforming, but then I remember that I got stuck on that first phase of the lungfish for like five minutes because I didn't get you were supposed to break the boxes open.

Although I will say, the act of his psi-blasts ricocheting off of a boss with no indication of damage being taken and him doing it over an over again is a bit odd, but that's the raocow way.

it was super neat seeing the bubble shrink and grow based on how much air the lungfish blew or sucked
what a neat concept for a fight

Not going where the game wants him to go. Check.
Not going after mental health. Check.
Not using the ability he just got. Check.
Not noticing that the shield is an ability that needs to recharge. Check.
(This wasn't meant to be offensive)

The shield looks like the ability you just use once or twice in the game, but it doesn't allow you to move and it needs to recharge so it feels to me kind of useless.

Uses shield to reflect laser and blow up tank.

"Hey, why that tank blow up for no reason"

Not very observant, I see.

I want to emptyquote that checklist or maybe add a thumbs up and mention I'm unironically enjoying raocow flailing about but I also want to add that the shield is super useful if you're bad at dodging.

This would be because he seems to have skipped right through the tutorial for the ability without even skimming it, let alone actually reading it.

Tutorials? Who reads those? I'll figure it out myself after having died needlessly several times!

I'm sorry but there are better ways to present gameplay stuff than 'here's this giant screen-sized swatch of text in your face', especially when you are in the momemtum of playing and having a good time

You say that, but then you restarted like twice to see the last 3 seconds of a cutscene with little gameplay inbetween.

Granted, Lungfishopolis kinda needlessly changes how your character moves and has enemies that deal large amounts of damage sooo yeah. It's a neat level but it's just kinda annoying with what it changes and it expects you to do.

Oh, and I don't think anyone has said this, but the "Rank Up" abilities like Pyrokinesis and Telekinesis are considered "extra" abilities that the game never forces you to actually have for level completion/boss fights, only the ones granted by the plot/story.
