Yup. I kept the 'vanilla' run as I saw it, but I figured I could light it up a little for you guys during the good run.

"I consider that a clear."

So much for using the save-state runs as a tour... But seriously, maybe Haimari was forgiving and intentionally had Mario teleport to the end after being hit by the mushroom enough times?

no, he was on the last screen already so you get teleported to the next room.

^^^ Yeah, every "Screen" in Super Mario World can only have one exit destination. The phantoshroom was just doing something like, "When Mario touches this, exit the level," (or vice-versa, whatever the particulars are, that's at least close.) Then all the screens used the same sublevel as a destination, causing you to "reload." However, the screen with the final door/pipe/whatever had to change the destination to the next sublevel.

Basically, hitting the phantoshroom runs the same code as entering a door, but it relies on the screen number to determine where you go! Similarly, if a door and a pipe are on the same "screen," they both gotta go to the same place.

The video sped up a bit and everything sounded higher pitched. I do wonder why that happened. Did you do that, raocow?

PS if you're seriously just playing through a full door again "legitimately" I am not even going to pretend to watch it.

Was Phanto disappearing a glitch or not?

Re: Hyper V, the most hyper of Fifths

Posted: 03 Dec 2010, 17:54
by Argumentable
Yes and no. Phanto is set to not vanish when he goes offscreen like some enemies (spike top is a good example because if it goes off screen even slightly it's vanished forever), but there isn't anything below the bottom of the screen. So it's basically like it fell in a pit, and since there is no "screen" lower than where he fell, he's gone for good. I'm sure it wasn't intended, but it happens and there's nothing you can really do to fix it.

yeah? it's just super hard to tell cause it happened twice... at the exact same spot. And what about the Mushroom warp? That HAD to be a glitch right?

How so?
This thread is for feedback is it not? I thought raocow wanted the viewers to take a part in the series via feedback. Saying "just let him do what he wants" to everything is not conducive to that.

As I said:
kilon wrote:no, he was on the last screen already so you get teleported to the next room.
because you know, rooms are divided in multiple screens where you can set for each screen where to teleport to.

Are you actually going to do this all in one go no matter what, or is it just going to be until you get sick of it? Good luck, either way, even though you've probably already recorded tomorrow's video by now.

Argumentable is Argumentative!

You know what they say about people who assume don't you?

Anyway, Kilon, thank you for explaining, I didn't know it worked like that.

I was able to see everything clearly when it was dark.

Atleast, clear enough.
Although with the light, you can actually tell that the platforms are invisible. That's lame.

Now the next level shall be the karmic backlash for this short and tension-lacking video of only 5 minutes.
