Apparently raocow is using an older version before the boss was fixed. That's what someone mentioned in the comments of the video.
He's using the latest version, also even weirder this never happened to me and I played it like 2 years ago or something. I've sent skelux a message to see what's up, since as pointed out the changelog does say this boss is suppose to be fixed. O.o

I do vaguely remember there being like a redux version or something, can't remember if that's the one I played or not,

soooooooooooooooooooooooooo
exactly HOW were people expected to find that as the first star????
i can't even figure out how raocow was expected to get up there without extreme risk of falling into the pipe.
the route up there seems way more convoluted than any other star in the level!

You can just do sideflip walljumps up a lot of the factory. In fact, the walljumps he used to skip the first toxic material vat are harder than any of the other walljumps you can do to climb it.

I'm just gonna give a warning about the last non-coin star in the factory level... it makes absolutely no sense and is the worst case of "you can't get this star until you select it" in the whole game. It's not obvious at all, the title of the star doesn't mean anything regarding its location, and it basically requires you to comb through the whole level again to find it.
And as people before have said, that signpost hint is only referring to the vanish cap switch. That misleading "hint" is what made me give up on that star until I learned that gloomy garden had nothing to do with it.

I am really digging those floors in the factory zone that you can safely run on and jump off from no matter how sloped they are.
Watching these hazardous levels though, this makes me feel like I want to grab Mario and prevent him from falling off.

So what's actually in that pipe that's supposed to be dangerous to enter?

Leads to another pipe surrounded by acid.

You can get up the ramps by either crawling up or doing the infinite jumpkick trick. You might be able to get up the ones at the very top with a well timed triple jump, but it's been forever since I've played, so I can't say for sure.

I am NOT looking forward to that star. I've seen it in speedruns. IT IS LITERAL GARBAGE, WHAT THE HECK WAS SKELUX THINKING?

I was wondering whether raocow could crawl up those ramps, but he wouldn't try.

I'd say the tanks were more like the arrow balls in Yoshi Island.

Considering lping is his source of income I'd say there's no "pretty much" about it.

God I hated using the cannon to go through the rings, but oddly enough I can't seem to remember this star in the factory people are dreading, guess I'll just wait an episode or two for the memories to come screaming back. ^_^

This has kinda made me want to go back and play Mario 64 DS. I wonder how it will feel to play it with the circle pad.

Can you not ground pound those tank things? You have yet to so much as try that, at least on video, when it seems like they'd be vulnerable to it.

Are there any kinda of meshes that are groundpoundable but not punchable? I mean, I'm not even sure if the crackle boxes are meshes. From how they behave, though, the tank things are clearly meshes attached to some sort of actor - the sheer fact that they shove you into the ground is proof enough, given that that's what you're expect to happen when you're suddenly pushed above a ceiling that's at the same height as the ground.
... Well, that's what you'd expect if you know how ceilings work in SM64, anyway.
