Re: SMWCX - Emerald Hill Zone
I'm at world 7 so far, and maybe I haven't been paying enough attention but I haven't seen any good life farms thus far. And it's getting to the point where I'd really appreciate one.

I feel this so hard. Going back to the title screen all the time is so annoying ;_;strongbadman wrote:I'm at world 7 so far, and maybe I haven't been paying enough attention but I haven't seen any good life farms thus far. And it's getting to the point where I'd really appreciate one.
A powerup or two in the hub would be nice too

Oh, awesome! You finally made a fix for that! Could you send it to me, too?Horikawa Otane wrote:(I'll also send him a patch that'll fix it just in case)
By the way, does your patch also fix the issue where large graphics cause SMBX to freeze momentarily, then skip frames? That's also a Lua-specific issue.

Not in my experience! For me, that always happened in vanilla SMBX, but installing the latest version of lunalua fixed that.Imaynotbehere4long wrote:By the way, does your patch also fix the issue where large graphics cause SMBX to freeze momentarily, then skip frames? By the way, what are the optimization tricks you can do with SMBX again? I started playing this and it performs several times worse than my old, not powerful at all computer did. And I'm pretty sure I had SHENANIGANS done to my previous SMBX installation to stop stutter city.

In this episode, raocow theorizes about the preceding events to a completely different video game, and a finger slip causes him to redo part of a level.

Re: SMWCX - Green Greens
Really? Just to make sure we're on the same page, you're referring to graphics as large as the ones at the end of SMWCX (~16000 pixels), right? And it only happens when they spawn; the rest of the game runs smoothly. And by "skip frames," I don't mean that the frame-rate drops or that it freezes, then runs really quickly; I mean it jumps forward by the amount of time it stayed frozen, so you can't just pause the game when it happens to let SMBX run its course.Leet wrote:Not in my experience! EDIT:
Don't worry about that too much; the only LunaDLL codes used are:TaviTurnip wrote:RUINED naw I'm kidding, but my sentiment mostly standsHorikawa Otane wrote:FYI this isn't vanilla. It uses LunaDLL Autocode.
- Three levels have a LunaDLL power-up and mount filter (other levels have vanilla power-up and mount filters).
- The credits hide the hub.
In other words, nothing that really affects game-play.

Re: SMWCX - Donut Plains
Oh, I guess I missed part of that; what I meant was without Lua that just happens to me randomly, not because of graphics; in fact, it was because of sound usually. But the frame-skipping phenomenon was the same as how you described.

Re: SMWCX - Donut Plains
I once read a book where an insufferable dude who derisively refers to everyone as either a hippy or a Nazi fills his pockets up with yogurt for the sole purpose of annoying someone else who thinks he's taking too much yogurt. He subsequently forgets about said yogurt and it starts to leak inside of his pockets, so he lights his jacket on fire in the middle of the airport then runs away.

Re: SMWCX - Green Greens
I tried playing SMWCX in an SMBX 2.0 beta, but it actually performed worse than vanilla SMBX. The only download I could find was from 5 months ago, though. Has there been more optimization work since then? I also looked for the latest Luna Lua download on Wohlstand's site, but it seems like it can't be downloaded.Leet wrote:Not in my experience! I'll try it. Is the powerup filtering glitch already fixed?Horikawa Otane wrote: Use the 2.0 beta. You should be fine with the endgame bug with that video card. It has numerous framerate optimisations, stabilisations, bug fixes, and game optimisations to make it run substantially better.

Going to read the judge comments kind of made me laugh hard. I feel the same way in a sorta different way, like, there's almost no encouragement or inclination to use non-Mario characters ever unless the game makes you, which tends to happen in all SMBx compilation thingies, so I always hope that raocow stays as Luigi/whoever when he leaves a level as them. That is one thing I sorely miss about having MaGL hype around; we got different characters every day.

You didn't miss anything, raocow. I'll tell you if you miss a casino level, but I think that won't be a problem. Anyway, I think there's only 5 or 6 in the game?
By the way, they just released a 1.01 patch.

Actually I prefer what this game does. Gives you the freedom to choose whichever character you prefer.TaviTurnip wrote:Going to read the judge comments kind of made me laugh hard.
