fun fact: on the normal version of this level, all the buddha quadrants are just laying there in the general path, and you don't have to do any of the dice stuff. kinda solidifies normal mode being a sorta easy mode
also shoutout to raocow ramming in to every single spiny in the galaxy

Seeing you do this and ProtonJon do the original is kind of amazing how much the series kept changing. The first two are standard enough Mario-like platformers (SML3 & Virtual Boy), the next two (2 & 3) do the transformation/no health system deal, and this and Shake It! have that heart health and escape to the goal system.
Also, The Big Board looked pretty neat.

Next up, panic time.
I feel like it'll end up being either one of the shortest videos or one of the longest.

I giggled when raocow completely ignored the slidey slope during his escape. :D I'm beginning to genuinely wonder, is raocow finding it tough to recognize when he returns to old rooms sometimes?

I just want to reconfirm, 110%, that you absolutely, cannot, at all, grab spinies. Or pig-spinies. Even if they are turned upside-down.

I like how raocow did a NEARLY PERFECT run through this level.... and then just ignored the last slope required for completion. Amazing.
I also like that the two of us did different sequence breaks through this level. Pigface Genie Doodler is such a bizarre creature.
The escape sequence also went far smoother than I imagined.
Tomorrow... there's some days. Let's go spend them on the races! (If you are reading this, know that the escape is no problem at all.... it's the rest of it you might struggle on) That being said, I do like the next level as well. Yellow world is just the world of really solid levels, in my opinion.

This.

Because this.
I'd be done with trying to tell how well raocow was going to do with each level because of Topaz, if it wasn't for the fact that the hardest levels are yet to come. Next passage. Hooo boy... next passage. If he breezes through it, I'm officially done ever guessing on how he does on anything... until I forget I've made this post and start guessing on his performance even more.

Eh, I think
Fiery Cavern
could be the awkward one for raocow.
Lots of lava, enemies which can be a tad annoying to avoid, tons of Yetis and icicles.
. By comparison, the level you name is pretty easy, especially before you get Keyser. Even afterwards it's not that annoying to get the keyser back.

Waiting for him to say Virtual Boy, only because there was a Wario Land on that thing that everyone forgets about.
Huh, so much for my analysis on The Big Board. Yay procrastination!
Doodle Woods
Introduction
"Doodle Woods has a primary school arts and crafts vibe with terrain made of foldy paper, drawings pinned to walls, pencil tips acting as spikes, and cloth patterns with mountain sketches filling in the backdrop. Hoggus, a Lakitu-esque character who spawns enemies by drawing them on his sketch pad, is central to the handiwork theme. The name Doodle Woods likely refers to Hoggus’s doodlings."

What I planned to do was give my thoughts on the Big Board off the top of my head, without even referencing the book. Maybe after this world's boss I'll do it, if I'm not being lazy again. And playing videogames.

Well that went pretty well. All collectables in one run, no deaths (even when he was at just one heart). He did miss out a few prizes from the Dominoes, but they were irrelevant really.

Ho ho! Where's all that Hard Mode doom and gloom now, eh?
Glad raocow's really gotten into a groove with this game, because when it's fun, it's great fun. Seeing as they're my favorite levels, I'd have been rather saddened if a Topaz Passage level frustrated him (though the only one I was at all concerned about was Doodle Woods and its major emphasis on enemies.) Judging by how well this world went, I think we're going to be seeing a lot less angrycow for the rest of the game!

Nice run of Domino Row! Thankfully, the difficulty does not effect the speed of the Domino races. The rolling race is the tightest of them all.
Domino Row
Introduction
"Domino Row uses dominoes (a visual representation of time) along with starting and ending markers as the framework for a variety of jumping, ROLLING, CLIMBING, and swimming drills. Post-fold, a series of shortcuts provide an alternate route through the level. The visual theme is played up with terrain made of domino faces. Subtle, eh?"
Game Idea
"Domino Row continues Topaz Passage’s tradition of optional arrangements. Each level has its own method of courting the player into participation, and each method is more convincing than the last:
Toy Block Tower: Diamond rewards
The Big Board: Diamond rewards and persuasive level design
Doodle Woods: Intrusive enemy spawning
Domino Row: The running race and rewards
Domino Row is the most persuasive of all the levels..."

Domino Row continues Topaz Passage’s tradition of optional arrangements.
It didn't look optional to me, though part of that may be a side-effect of rao playing on hard. Is there enough room to avoid starting the domino races ?

Starting the domino races is unskippable, however, winning them is entirely optional with the exception of the second - that's the only one that rewards a Jewel Piece treasure, necessary to unlock the boss. The rest unlock gems, shortcuts, and other non-essential things, meaning you don't *have* to race the dominoes - but after seeing the chest once, it certainly doesn't feel that way! The final one does reward the record/CD, which is obviously not optional for completion but the music is entirely optional with regard to the rest of the game. And as raocow proved, you can completely balls up the last race and still win!
